  • I would not usually consider a garden a must-see experience, but I am really glad a local told us to visit Hamilton Gardens. The experience of wandering through a maze of hedges that open into perfectly cultivated gardens plucked complete from other countries and other eras was quite possibly the closest I will ever come to feeling like Alice in Wonderland come to life. You never know what magical sight waits around the next bend in the path.

A great place to stay. An older building but neat and tidy inside, and fully equipped with heat pumps in the living area and bedrooms, large fridge, large TV screen etc. Staff extremely welcoming and friendly, offered us a free upgrade which was terrific! Beds are comfortable and clean, furnishing fairly new and pretty much spotless. Nice outdoor settings too. Plenty of secure off street parking. Will definitely be back next time we need a place to stay in Hamilton!

The room was nice and large which was great. The shower could have been a lot cleaner - the shower head was very yucky and hadn't been cleaned properly in a very long time. Overall, for the price, it was great. Awesome location - could walk down the hill into the main street of Hamilton very easily.

You pay for what you get. Its not a terrible place, the location is good. The rooms like they are from the 1980s, but they are simple, clean and what you expect from a Motel Lodge. I would recommend for something basic and simple and would stay again given the location.

Interactions with staff were pleasant and accommodating. Our room, although tired looking was very clean. Parking fairly tight, but managed to obtain one nightly. Overall suited our requirements perfectly.

A family run motel. Very friendly and welcoming. The motel is old. An antique. But kept clean and comfortable. Handy to the city centre, Hamilton Lake and Balloons Over Waikato (hot air balloon festival).

The room was comfortable and clean. However, we were stying in a room for 4 people and there were 2 of everything (towels, bowls, spoons, coffee sachets). That wasn't really appropriate in a room that sleeps 4.

Did not look much from the front, but a very comfortable unit with full facilities and very clean.the only addition that I'd ask for ,is a safety lock on the door to complement the door lock

Overall, our one night stay at the Tudor Motor Lodge was very comfortable. My only complaint is that the outside of the motel was a little rundown and we had been looking forward to a swim but the pool was closed (we had not been warned about this beforehand). However, the staff was friendly and helpful and very considerately offered to give us a first floor room because we had a heavy piece of luggage. All in all a comfortable place to spend the night.

It’s a clean bed for the night.

We only stayed for one night passing through. It’s had better days. Its old and run down. The beds were clean and that’s all that mattered. We wouldn’t have stayed for any longer.
