The hotel was a very good price. The room was clean and big enough for two people, had tea and coffee with a kettle so could make a hot drink. Excellent shower. Breakfast was a bit small and expensive at £14 per person but the staff were friendly and very professional and quick to serve. Free parking outside the hotel was good and there was plenty of space. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere so you do need a car. But that adds to the quiet, peaceful, and relaxing atmosphere of the place

My stay at the Hickshead hotel has been excellent in many respects, especially the helpfulness of the staff and their proactive attitudes. Unfortunately if you have a room facing the carpark not only do you get woken up at silly o'clock by patrons chatting in the carpark but also by the smell of cigarette smoke coming in through the window. Yes I did have to get up and close the window. The Hotel is very convenient, the food is good and as I say the Staff make this place somewhere I will return.

The room was ok and staff were helpful. We struggled to get a good night’s sleep, however, because we could hear everything in the room next to us…this included: every word they said, someone snoring and even the dog whimpering in it’s sleep because it was dreaming.

The location was great! The stay was spoilt by a noisy delivery to the hotel at 1am which went on until 1.45am! and lead to a disturbed night.

When I was lost finding the hotel the receptionist very kindly looked up where I was and guided me to the hotel. When on a Sunday evening I was too tired to go out to supper the staff arranged for a sandwich to be made for me. This is the sort of thing that clients remember later and is such good practice.

I stayed here for five nights. The first night I was woken every two hours from midnight onward by a dog barking in an adjacent room, it turns out the hotel is 'pet friendly'. The staff were able to give me another room but once there the noise came from other guests slamming doors well into the night. The first room was very basic. No fridge in which to keep food or drink. Bathroom was okay, lots of hot water and a good shower. Second room was in better decorative condition but still no fridge. The hotel is somewhat isolated so unless you drive elsewhere you have to eat in the hotel. The only other option within walking distance is a Burger King about a mile away.I had breakfast on the first morning but didn't bother afterward. 'Variety' boxes of children's cereal (sugary and inedible) are not my thing so I had a cheese omelette which was overcooked and so heavy I couldn't finish it. I blame myself for not checking reviews before booking (I was in a hurry). I suppose the (low) room rate reflects what you get for the money. It's okay for a single night perhaps but not really for me.

Overall the property is ok however, for someone that has worked in the industry for over 40 yrs I do feel a few points could be improved: 1) Receptionist on arrival, should of confirmed duration and rate 2) I prefer either suit or uniform to be worn 3) Room it’s self had was ok and had heap rails in bathroom but no access for a disabled person to access bath/shower although this was advised I do feel that this could easily be altered by changin the bath to give access for a disabled person. 4) Patkong there was a range over parked over 2 disabled parking bays making it very difficult for others to park in the next bay. 5) On departure receptionist didn’t ask if our stay was ok? The above points are feedback to make things more professional and for staff to be more courteous and caring about guests instead of them being treated like it’s just money being pays to the hotel but also re the bathroom upgrade we are in the 21st century this is basic DDA compliant.

Comfortable, reaonably well presented and convenient location. Welcoming Receptionist not very good or articulate. Dining Room, no side plates, no small knives. I know, picky, but fhe little things are important. That said, we will doubtless stay there again.

Very quiet homely feel. I would have preferred a shower to a bath and did not find it easy to get in and out of the bath to use the overhead shower. I was glad of the grab handles. Not sure if my room (102) was classed as a disabled room, but if it was, a vertical handrail in the bath would have been helpful. Breakfast was adequate but only toast available, no rolls. On the whole, I enjoyed my stay
