Take a seat in one of Helsinki’s premier music venues, which is both a cultural hub in the city and an eye-catching architectural landmark.

Prepare to be swept away by the beauty of the Helsinki Music Centre. This stylish, modern venue in the heart of Finland’s capital hosts famous orchestras throughout the year. Join one of the public tours around the building to see behind the scenes of a world-class venue or attend something from its diverse and impressive schedule of shows.

Marvel at the modern, 21st-century architecture of the building. The design was decided as part of an architectural competition between 1999 and 2000. The building finally opened in 2011 with a rendition of Finlandia by Jean Sibelius.

Take some time to appreciate the artistry of the building and its grounds. Several cuboid glass sections, topped with a sloping grass roof, blend into the design of the area. The architects used green copper to reflect the parks and other buildings. Wander around the grounds to appreciate the sculptures that decorate the area.

Book tickets for a show at the venue. The Helsinki Music Center is the permanent home for the Sibelius Academy, the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra and the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra. Each company contributes to a varied program that encompasses modern orchestral music, beloved classics and choral performances.

Find your seat in a concert hall that has a capacity for over 1,700 people or enjoy a performance in one of five smaller halls. The center can host up to 100 performances in its season between September and May.

Stop for a snack in the on-site café or a full meal in the restaurant. The site also includes the library of the Sibelius Academy and a store selling a wide variety of classical music.

Helsinki Music Centre is located in a central sightseeing hub of the city, next to the Central Train Station. The Museum of Contemporary Art, the Parliament House and the Finlandia Hall are all just moments away. Walk here or take a bus to the stop outside the venue.
