Henderson Hide Away
This property was perfect for our extended family reunion. We had 7 siblings plus spouses on the property and had plenty of space for family time and alone time as needed. Outdoor area was awesome. A little chilly to eat outside but we enjoyed the trails and fire pit. The kitchens were well supplied for cooking family meals. Highly recommend this property for large groups.

Fantastic for a Large Group
This property is fantastic for a group of multiple families. Everyone was able to have their own private space while having a fantastic shared space for meals. The kitchen was well stocked (although we did occasionally need to pull items from other kitchens on property). The property is beautiful with ample parking and close to Hendersonville. Roads are windy but well paved, so we did not have any concerns for the 2WD vehicles.

Unexpected joy!!!!!
The place looked great online. The reality exceeded our expectations. Our children and grandchildren enjoyed the creek and trails. The adults loved the fire pit. Beautiful and a wonderful retreat center for a group to get away.

Hendersonville Vacation
The main house was great. It had all the supplies we needed. The creek was nice as we had grandchildren who played in it everyday. We had room for volley ball and corn hole. There were 15 of us so it was nice having the additional homes on the property. The pond was not as expected but we did manage to catch a couple of fish. The retreat is within 30 minutes of many attractions, i.e., Sliding Rock, Looking Glass Falls, Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, Ashville, Dupont State Forrest, etc. We went tubing and skiing/water boarding at Lake Lure. This was great. There are many, many places to hike. There were a few issues with the smaller facilities on the property but not so much that it was uncomfortable. It was a great get-away for the family

Peaceful
The house and outbuildings are well stocked with everything you may need. The houses and property were clean and in good working order, except for the upstairs oven which had a broken handle. It did not keep us from using it though. The garage apartment had a musty odor the first several hours. Beds were comfortable and area was quiet. Overall, we were well pleased with the property and enjoyed ourselves.

Liked: Communication
Room for everyone
Very spacious accommodations. Property was not as clean as expected, we ended up washing sheets so we could sleep there. Vacasa is not a reliable property management company for communication. Our AC didn't work in 3 of the units, had to call repeatedly to get information about the resolution.

Spacious and private
We really enjoyed having so much room to spread out. This place would be great for multiple families with different cooking needs and schedules as each of the cabins has a kitchen or kitchenette. It honestly felt a bit wasted on us (as we paid for multiple kitchens we didn't use) but I could see how if a small business was hosting an employee retreat or workshop this would be a great place for that. The main house has a decent sized living space, but the dining area is really small, and we were pretty cramped trying to fit the 12 of us around the table. They compensate for this by having a massive outdoor dining area behind the fox den cabin. So, for a large family with kids and elderly relatives the outdoor space wasn't very inviting but for people who are less bonded like coworkers or workshop / retreat attendees it would be awesome. Vacasa was easy to deal with via text but a 10am check out is brutal – and late check out is almost $200 (-no thanks). The property itself – especially the main house is well furnished with sturdy furniture and high-quality chairs couches, curtains, blinds, pillows, blankets & appliances. I am picky about dishes and eating/cooking utensils, and these could have been a bit better organized. We found bowls and plates in multiple locations in the same kitchen which made for hectic dinner prep. The primary suite in the main house was beautifully staged and the laundry room is big, and the washer and dryer are top notch. The individual cabins could use a bit of updating – especially the mattresses. The absolute charm of this place lies in the nature of the property grounds. If you want to get away from the hustle this is an incredible sanctuary. The Willows Retreat is very close to Hendersonville but feels like 100 miles away. The trails are well maintained and signed – my 81-year-old father-in-law was able to get all the way to the end and back with no problem. I tried to walk down the creek bed with my 5-year-old but sadly there was a lot of broken glass and other trash in the water. My family loved skipping rocks in the pond out front. We were there in August, so the water level was rather low- not a fishing spot but still pretty. The firepit shelter is a great additional space with excellent lighting. It made for a wonderful after dinner destination for smores with the kids. My favorite part of the property was the lovely waterfall right outside the door of the main house – you can hear it perfectly from the house and sitting next to it while the kids played in the creek bed was heaven.

Conflicted
My intention is to leave a fair review of our stay - there were high highs and very low lows. The good. The home and property is obviously beautiful. There is a lot of space, a lot of ways to enjoy the outdoor areas, plenty of sitting areas, etc. There are more than enough chairs, a fire pit, wagons to haul stuff around, etc., really just has a lot of the soft extras that make it very enjoyable. Hendersonville is an easy 15-minute drive and is a beautiful town with a lot to do/see/enjoy. Parks, food, hikes, etc. The bad. First, the biggest issue is with trying to communicate with Vacasa. Unless you pick up the phone and call them you wont get a response. I sent many emails and texts over the month before our stay wth no reply. Once you do get someone on the phone, they don't have a clue about the property or area. Getting answers is a pain if you're used to booking directly from a homeowner who knows every square inch of their home, amenities, and the local area. There were a lot of annoying items like no stoppers in the tubs, a lot of stuff in the kitchen but none of it quite what you need, uncomfortable beds or beds that are smaller than the box spring under them, etc. The biggest issue was yellow jackets. I get that you can't control nature but there were double-grapefruit-sized nests over every door or under the steps of every exit - it's negligent. Within 2 hours of arriving 3 kids were stung multiple times, before the trip was over all 9 children were stung, one went to the ER. The next morning after we arrived I reached out to Vasasa about it, and requested they send someone out asap, and they did nothing. Someone responded and said they would contact the local agent but I heard nothing until the night before our check out. It's really quite egregious. The reason you book 21 acres is because you want to enjoy the outdoor space and we were completely robbed of that. The local agent was very nice and apologetic, she recognized they completely dropped the ball and did offer a very small refund but really we're still left very frustrated, jaded, and have an ER bill that could have been avoided.

Great space for extended family.
After a bit of a rocky start, we had a great Thanksgiving stay! Local agent and cleaning staff went above and beyond to get the entire prosperity clean and ready to go while our group went out to dinner.

Beautiful Zen vacation escape for the family
We loved this staying at this property. Extremely clean and spacious with private accommodations for all members of the family. Multiple little houses and efficiency apartments all close together. Beautiful outdoor dining areas with a swing, grills and fire pit areas. Beautiful trails to hike right on property with a lake for fishing and a stream to enjoy. 15 minutes from downtown Hendersonville with quaint shops and restaurants. About 30-40 minute easy drive to Asheville. We look forward to staying at this property again!
