The home and property is beautiful and very close to Shawnee National Forest. Takes awhile to get there on back roads but so serene and relaxing. We enjoyed walking around the property but could not tell where it ends and the neighbors begin so it would be nice to have a map or notes on that. We enjoyed the birds and the quiet.
We headed out to explore the National Forest and it was a short drive.
Beds were comfortable. Nice decor. Kitchen has everything you need. Nice TV watching area. The WiFi was spotty for us.
Although we did not leave food out on the counter, there were a few mouse poops on the kitchen counter in the morning. I took off one star on cleanliness for that but honestly it's to be expected in the country.
To access all 3 bathrooms you have to go through a bedroom. So the people in the 4th bedroom - without a bathroom attached - have to go through another person's bedroom to get to it. (There is no bathroom accessible without going through a bedroom.) The bedroom right inside the front mudroom door, the door latch/lock does not work, and that bathroom has no door. We had 7 adults; one single and 3 couples. So this was a bit of an issue for us.
I was frustrated by communication with the property manager on a question I had about my invoice. He was argumentative and communicated poorly via the Vrbo messaging system. He kept wanting me to call him, which then would mean our discussion wasn't recorded. (Plus I was at work and could not call.) He basically accused me of trying to get a free night which was in no way the purpose of my question. It turns out the invoice on the Vrbo website was incorrect and very confusing, and I had sent him screen shots along with my questions, which he never seemed to refer to when he answered. The manager should be able to figure this out and explain this in writing in one or 2 messages. We exchanged multiple messages and I ended up having to contact Vrbo myself and search back through my emails to get to the bottom of it.
I had booked with a 20% discount which was applied to only 2 of my 3 nights; he had said 5 days ago he would refund the difference but I do not yet have a refund on my credit card; however the amount is not worth continuing to communicate with him.
