Guests were made to feel like family, with such friendly hosts. Always there to offer tips and advice for visits to local attractions in the area. An excellent breakfast always set up our day.
We stayed here for 1 nt whilst attending a wedding nearby. We loved this place.
The room was spacious, clean and plenty of amenities.
The breakfast was outstanding!!!! Pancakes and US style bacon with syrup, rivals the best that the US has to offer.
If your considering staying here for any reason at all - you won't regret it.
If you're travelling from the US (or anywhere overseas) and doing Hadrian's wall this is a beautiful accomodation that will be a highlight of your visit.
I highly recommend you try Shaftoe's, it will provide the perfect stay.
Fantastic location, easy drive to Roman sites, and a short walk to the train station. Breakfast cooked to order was delicious and a nice variety. Room was larger than typical and a friendly greeting each morning. Highly recommended.
Lovely friendly host who made us so welcome, even giving us a little flask of fresh milk to fill our thermoses with coffee for the next day for our travels. We will return.
Lovely b & b, really warm and friendly welcome with a lovely brew on arrival. Room lovely and clean with every thing you need a real home from home, topped off with an excellent breakfast. Will defo be back
Everything you would want from a B&B - a warm welcome from Lois - including a cup of tea - lovely clean and well appointed room and ensuite and a great breakfast selection prepared by David. A good base from which to explore Northumberland.
Lois and David are very hospitable and Lois made us feel very welcome when we arrived. There is a real cosy feel to Shaftoes. The room and common area for the guests are very clean and Lois has some great ideas for making your stay more comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, the bed was comfortable and there was a good shower. We used Shaftoes as a base to drive to Hadrians Wall and Vindolanda. We would not hesitate to stay again when in the area. Thank you!
Lois and Dave are fantastic friendly people with great knowledge of the local area. They went above and beyond to make may stay a great experience. I highly recommend this lodging.
We really enjoyed our one night stay here, the b&b is great it was clean comfortable and they had thought of everything. The owners are lovely. The location is perfect and they have parking spaces for your car. Lovely breakfast too. Would recommend to anyone and would definitely return. The village itself is also beautiful with lovely views and walks and places to eat and drink.
We easily found the property and were given a personal tour and a lovely pot of tea. We slept well and had a scrumptious breakfast every morning. Dining was a quick walk into town and very nice as well.
Lois & David run a great B&B. Great for a trip into Hadrian Wall area. Lois always had pertinent suggestions and Dave cooks a mean breakfast. Very relaxing & easy to get to. Hope to return again!!
Absolutely excellent in every way. Very friendly couple who made me feel at ease as soon as the front door opened. There were new very comfortable beds in my room and everywhere was spotlessly clean. These people know what they're doing and it shows by the way they receive their guests. Breakfast was wonderful too.
Room was very clean, as soon as I got there I was offered a cup of tea, great!
Lois and David run a lovely B&B, in a lovely setting, very nice and I highly recommend.
There’s not many places that leave such an impression after just one night but this guest house did just that! When we received the email the day before we went with every bit of information we may require we guessed this was run by a very organised couple, we weren’t wrong, from the moment we arrived to the next day when we left, we were made so welcome, Lois was so friendly and informative, the guest house is spotless and our room was spacious with all mod cons & quality toiletries! Breakfast was superb, hot, tasty and those tomatoes were scrumptious! We know we’ve found somewhere we’ll be visiting time and time again! I don’t write too many reviews but this is a gem of a place! Can’t wait to come back!
