Hilton Beach is one of a string of beaches that spread out along Tel Aviv’s glorious Mediterranean shoreline. Views over piercing-blue waters and powdery soft golden sands lure visitors that want to relax amid a picturesque coastal setting. Rolling waves attract surfers and a youthful crowd. Put the sightseeing on hold for a day and experience Israeli’s love for seaside entertainment at Hilton Beach.
The beach features two bays separated by a pier and a rocky breakwater. Rent a sun lounger and umbrella or pick a spot to throw down a towel and while away the day beneath the bright sunshine. The water is clean and lifeguards patrol the beach during daylight hours. With changing rooms, showers and toilets, you’ll find everything you need for a comfortable visit.
Dog owners congregate at the beach’s northernmost section, where their pets can run leash-free, play in the sand and paddle in the sea. This is one of the only dog-friendly beaches in Tel Aviv. The middle portion is a favorite hangout of the local LGBT community. Come on the first weekend of June, when it hosts one of the parties of the Tel Aviv Pride festival.
Owing to a reef situated off the shoreline, the beach receives consistent rolling waves and is among the country’s most revered surf spots. Kayaks, surfboards and windsurfing equipment are all available for rent. Beginners and children can take lessons with qualified watersports instructors.
The beach’s ambiance takes on a different perspective as the sun begins to drift down. Watch as the sky turns into a fascinating array of orange, pink, red and yellow hues. Stroll along the pier, sit on a bench and contemplate the contrast between the sunset and a cityscape illuminated by thousands of lights.
Hilton Beach is around a 15-minute walk to the south of Tel Aviv Port. Get here by walking along the Lahat Promenade, which continues to Charles Clore Park. Parking is available for a fee at the Hilton Hotel. Above the beach, Independence Park is an oasis of greenery between the sea and residential buildings.
