Island Retreat is a spacious property in the center of Sea Pines, where a private unheated pool/spa, and deck await to welcome you home! Two living areas, a den, and a private office provide plenty of room for the whole family to spread out comfortably. The main living area has a sectional sofa, comfortable chairs, and a wall-mounted TV, along with large windows and vaulted ceilings that add space and light. To one side of the living area, you’ll find the dining room with seating for guests; to the other is a kitchen with custom cabinetry, tile flooring, an additional dining table, and access to the outdoor space. A small alcove off the kitchen has a sofa, a TV, and views of the pool and deck. Also on this level is the private office, which is perfect for guests who want to use the free WiFi to make this a working vacation. The den is the ideal spot for kids to gather, with a large sectional sofa, a TV, board games, and a desk. The second level of the home also features a pool table for hours of added enjoyment.

Step outside to find a great spot for sunbathing and outdoor dining. The expansive wood deck spans the length of the property and features a sitting area overlooking the lagoon, as well as a table, chairs, and direct access to the pool and spa.

There are lots of terrific restaurants nearby anytime you need a break from the kitchen. Enjoy the wildlife and botanical splendor of Sea Pines Forest Preserve and Audubon Newhall Preserve, and explore the many shops that await at Coligny Plaza Shopping Center and The Village Exchange, both less than five miles away.

Neat layout but needs a good cleaning!
The size of the house is amazing! We had plenty of space to spread out and we loved all the different sitting areas. We were very disappointed with how dirty the house was. We ended up buying cleaning supplies and cleaned the house ourselves before we felt comfortable using the house…yes, that bad. The whole house just needs a good deep cleaning and even a fresh coat of paint would make a big difference. We were also grossed out by the stains on the couch in the main living room. The cabinets in the kitchen all need to be wiped out (shelves, sliding drawers). Using the bath tub in the master bedroom once the jets were turned on mold came out. That really ruined the relaxing bath. We also wish the pool and hot tub could have been heated. With the pool in the shade most of the day it is pretty cold, even for July! We did however, LOVE looking for Lola everyday and evening. She never bothered us and was more nervous of us. But it was so amazing to have so much wildlife that close! If we had to do it again, we would rent somewhere else. :(

Peaceful Property - Definitely a Gator present
We had a great week at this property. A well stocked kitchen made food prep easy, grill was great . The pool is chilly but after a long day at the beach if felt great. There was plenty of open space for all of us. LOLA is 100% a fixture to this property. They weren’t kidding when gator was mentioned. She made herself known andwe were sure to not leave the deck onto the bank . With having two small children it can be nerve wracking if they want to wander or run but being that its by an open pool and body of water, there was no reason to leave them unattended. I did find it interesting that upon booking and reading the alligator reviews, I was told that fences werent allowed. However , both homes across the lagoon had a fence / elevated deck which seems to add peace of mind that theres something between Lola and yourself . Although she was close , she never left the water or approached our deck . The one downfall was that primary bedroom is one open suite- no bathroom door for privacy .There was so much wildlife to watch , we would 100% stay here again

The location was good! Loved the backyard and the wildlife we were able to observe. Disappointed we never had wifi even after contacting management. Garbage was left from previous tenants, had asked to have it picked up but never came. A few housekeeping things that made us wonder how well it was cleaned. Overall we enjoyed our time there. Great for us to get wherever we wanted to do.

Great Spot
It was a great place for our trip. The house was very clean and well appointed. There was a nove small office for setting up a laptop and working right off the main loving area. And there was another living area of you want some separation between the adults and kids. The upstairs 2 queens does not have a door so keep that on mind when it says 3 bedrooms that one does not have a door. But it was great for us! Thank you.

Spacious and great location
We were looking for a place in Sea Pines and had never been in this area. It was an easy 10 minute bike ride to the beach club. The house was spacious and provided great spaces for all of us to hang out. Maybe the best thing was the outdoor space. The deck and pool were fantastic. We even saw a few deer in the back yard. We even were visited by the pond’s resident alligator. This was the perfect place for us and we would definitely stay here again.

Very disappointing!
--Pool was very dirty. Called Mgmt. company and no return call. Person came to clean pool on Wednesday, spent less than 15 minutes and did not clean trap, which was full of leaves, we cleaned it ourselves. Walls and floor of pool need cleaned, very dirty. --No handles on the new refrigerator --Upstairs bathroom doors water stained and not clean. --Upstairs bathroom lights would turn on then go out, electrical problem. --Large frying pan in kitchen warped, needs replaced --If you rent bring your own trash bags, they give you 4. --Called to see about pool heat and was told there was no charge but then was charged $55 a day for heating the pool. I contacted the Management company on 3 separate occasions and never received a call back. Very poor customer service. Upkeep on this house is very poor. Gutters clogged with leaves and plants growing from them. Never did see a landscape person. I would not rent this house again.

Pleasantly surprised
The reviews for this property were not great, but it was only one of two available in Sea Pines for our last minute vacation. Im we were all so pleasantly surprised. The house was beautiful with lots of spaces to spread out and enjoy different activities (VR in one family space and girls night in another). Loved the sitting nook in the kitchen as we could all be together with whomever turn it was to cook. The deck was amazing. Again - so many space to hang out. The only note I’d give is that the pool is not exposed to sun for much of the morning due to heavy trees. We worked around this with no issues (but probably not the house for anyone who’s primary focus is sunning in the pool). The pool was also in need of a scrub - lots of algae. When I called the management company they said it had been cleaned just that day. I sent photos and they sent someone out right away to rectify. The garbage disposal also didn’t work and they sent someone out to reset it within the hour. This is really an amazing house and much more spacious thank the photos suggest. We would rent this home again and again. NOTE: The exterior photo suggests the t is yellow. It is not. A lovely and relaxing vacation in a wonderful home.

Great location, very quite neighborhood. Property needs some TLC; clean up outside grounds and do some minor updating to interior would make a difference to appearance. Kids enjoyed pool and daily sightings of the local alligator was fun.

Which it was better
My family has come to Hilton Head for years. Sadly this is the first bad review I have had during this time. On the first day there the stove top stopped working. When we called to report this someone was sent out. Unfortunately nothing came of it. The repair man said it would need to be replaced and that the owner would have to approve this purchase. One day went by and then another and no one let us know anything. We called three different times and were blown off by management. We even went by the office to see about it and was told a manager would call. Yet the call never came. Our family rents a home so we can cook meals in. This could not happen due to not having the things we needed. We needed to adjust the whole week to accommodate this since we had no idea each day if things would be fixed. The meals planned couldn’t work so there was more purchasing of different things in order to meet basic needs. Oddly enough Elsa hit and the electricity went out and then the stove top started to work. Yet this was the day before we left. I feel bad for anyone coming to this home planning to do the same thing because whatever was wrong with it was never fixed and there seemed to be no concern by anyone to do so. There was also dry rot on the out back that broke and my sons foot went through. Although this house has a lot of potential it seems no one cares to take the basic care to do what needs to be done. I noticed others commented in the lack of lighting and it seems nothing has changed with that. The patio furniture was broken and then covere up with the cushions so it was apparent. It was a lot of money to spend for this kind of issue and I would never recommend this house to anyone least they spend their whole time tending to problems which is not a vacation nor a responsibility or someone who does not own the property.

Great Location- Some issues with House
The house could use some updating, but it is in a great location - near Harbour Town. We had to call the management to get light bulbs for several lights out in the kitchen and a bathroom - but they were very responsive. I also reported a broken toilet holder in one of the bathrooms but that wasn’t fixed. The kitchen could really use a paper towel holder. I searched in every cabinet but couldn’t find one. The biggest issue was in the Master bedroom. The tv would not work. The ROKU remote is missing. I called for a replacement but they sent us a universal remote which did nothing. We always love to watch tv in bed late at night, but sadly it didn’t happen this time. The coffee maker also didn’t work so we called and reported this. They immediately brought over a brand new one. There is absolutely zero privacy in the master bathroom. I used another bathroom and my husband used the master bathroom so we could each have some privacy. Lighting is poor in Master bedroom and bathroom. Also, most closet doors were locked and unusable. The bottom drawer in the chest of drawers in the master won’t open. The outside deck needs a lot of work. Chairs and table were dirty so we hardly went out there. Pool was also dirty and small. There were several reviews citing an alligator visiting regularly, but we only saw it once - on the neighbor’s back lawn. Overall, we had a great vacation, but for the amount of money we paid for this rental the house should have been in much better shape. It’s the little things that mean so much - and unfortunately they add up to be big things.

Great location, but property could use some TLC
The location is outstanding - great biking proximity to Harbour Town, and not a bad bike to the beach or Salty Dog. Lagoon out back with gators are an added plus. The property could use some TLC though - kitchen is very outdated, with limited supplies. A dishwasher that smells horrible will make you want to handwash everything before using it. The online description advertises a "spa" - but not sure if that is a reference to the master shower spa that does not work, or the hot tub that doesn't offer hot water. After several phone calls, Vacasa finally told me "the property package doesn't include a spa." So, don't believe the photos or the description I guess. Outdoor lights do not work (or at least a light switch that eluded us the whole time)...will make you think twice going to your car in the dark with that 6 foot gator out there. Rest of the accommodations worked well, and the location will offset some of the negatives. A nice, small touch would be for the cleaning company to blow off the patio and sidewalk the day of your arrival. It is covered in debris, and impacts the enjoyment of the patio.

Property Not Kept Up by Owner
There were a lot of broken and things in disrepair due to not bring kept up. Water damage in master shower, one side of master shower never gets warm, wine fridge smells, dishwasher smells, kitchen countertops dirty and falling apart, chunks of grout falling out of tiles in kitchen and hall, dresser drawers broken, patio furniture broken and disgustingly dirty, deck dirty and splintering, toilet not flushing in main hall bathroom, lights outside don't work, pool and hot tub dirty and cloudy, mattresses in master and downstairs bedroom are like sleeping on a box spring, there were piles of scrap wood on property, lots of palmetto bugs in the house, and a car in a storage cover in the drive. For the same price I could have rented something kept up better with far less issues.

Let's start on the outside, none of the security lights worked so it was completely impossible to get into the house without tripping at night unless you used a flashlight. The house looked like it hadn't been maintained in months. The roof and siding were very dirty, there was garbage in a back storage area. Despite the listing clearly stating the pool could be heated it wasn't available (even after I spent $250 to heat it). The deck has a plant that had separated and stuck up about 2 inches, creating a dangerous situation where someone could trip. The outside furniture was dirty and the cushions look like they hadn't been cleaned in months, so most of the patio went unused. Inside, the A/C did not work in the upstairs and because of that it smelled horrible. The pool table wasn't leveled, had a tear in the fabric and no cue ball, so that too was completely unusable. Half of the light switches inside did nothing, most of the TVs were missing remotes and there was water damage on the walls of the master bathroom. This place made us feel completely unsafe and quite honestly, disgusted. This home should not be rented to anyone else until the homeowners spend significant time and money making the home functional and safe.

Pool was a disaster from the beginning. No water and no use of the pool for the first 3 days. Beds are terrible. Not clean. Several lights out throughout the house. Wine fridge smelled like a dead animal was inside. Upstairs is more for children versus adults with the slanted ceilings. Lagoon is close to property so wouldn’t recommend to stay if you have children. Alligator was lurking every time we went outside. Overall, was not a good stay and we won’t rent this house again. We love HH and have never had a poor house experience until this one.

Beautiful time at Sea Pines
We loved staying at this house and at Sea Pines! We had an excellent check in/check out experience. Anything that we needed that was missing from the house, was resolved promptly by the property manager. We loved the pool and deck, so much more beautiful in person than pictures. Additionally, the resort grounds are stunning for bike rides and close to everything you need- shops, beach, etc.

The property was beautiful and close to everything on Hilton Head. The weather could have been a better participant, but, that is weather. Only one T V worked in the whole house which was fine by us because we got good use of the pool table. Overall, though, great property and wonderful vacation.

Great Vacation Stay
Awesome location. Short bike in to Harbor Town. Not far from Sea Pines beach and South Beach (Salty Dog). House is much bigger than it seems with a lovely porch and pool + hot tub.

Great stay
The house was great! Very clean. Kids loved the pool! We didn’t realize based on the listing that the hot tub could not be heated during the summer (on-site property manager said the heat plus the chemicals turn the hot tub water green in the summer?) and that we would not be able to turn the jets off and on. The light switches in the house were confusing at times, and it took us several days to figure out how to turn on the lights in the pool (the property manager never did get back to us, and one night they eventually just came on... I’m assuming maybe they’re on a timer). We would definitely stay here again. Great location!
