This two hundred year old post-and-beam farm building has been converted into two elegant, private apartments that share a common entry. Amazing & Charming!!
My wife and I have stayed at Swallow's Rest every time we visit PA and love the atmosphere and the quaintness of the West Grove area. Henry is always to pleasure to speak to and makes we have everything we need. We also enjoy the mini art gallery featuring local artist. Highly recommend if you're looking for a charming getaway.

Quiet get away

Wonderful Getaway
Swallow's Rest West was just delightful, and the perfect base for our visit to Longwood Gardens. It was so creatively decorated, had all the amenities needed, and was clean and comfortable. Our host Henry was wonderful. Only thing I would have changed was having an operating window on the upper floor, to let in some fresh, cool air at night. But this was just a minor issue. I would still highly recommend this property.

Swallow’s Rest West
We enjoyed our stay so much. We were in the area to spend time with our new granddaughter & her parents. The location was great; not too far from Parkesburg. The property was so nice & quiet. It was fun to feed the animals, Cider, the pony, goats & chickens. Henry was so friendly & made us feel right @ home Would definitely stay here again on future visits.

Always Lovely
This is the third time we’ve stayed at Swallow’s Rest and it’s always great. The location is quiet, the property is comfortable and attractive and the hosts are friendly & helpful. We enjoy eating out at the Whip, and spent a day at Longwood Gardens this trip. There’s a small fridge and a microwave so at-home meals are manageable with a little forethought. Coffee in the morning is easy— there are always supplies. It’s a quick trip from home but lots of things to do and a recharge and change from the city.

Near Kennett Square - New Bolton Center
It was a positive experience; close to what I needed at Univ Penn New Bolton Center; a nice rural part of the state but there are no services / restaurants very close by (but quite a lot about ~10 minutes away...so not far as well as a good grocery store off of Route 1). Comfortable bed; nice bathroom with a good shower; seems like recently updated (older house). Parking immediately next door. Close to the road but I didn't notice any significant road noise and it's a minor country road (a spur from a bigger road). Host lives I believe a few hundred yards away and promptly answered a question I had. If you want to do a lot of cooking for a long stay I would suggest the kitchen and fridge are probably too small for that, but I only needed some breakfast food and snacks so it was fine for me. Coffee maker worked fine. You need to be able to walk up a flight of steps to access the bedroom/bathroom. TV was Ok but with limited free streaming options. You can use your own subscriptions (Netflix, etc.). Internet worked fine. Bottom line: convenient for my needs; easy to find; clean updated older home (I suspect) renovated to create two apartments side by side; easy parking; comfortable especially for one or two people. I'd use it as a base for doing things and eating in the area. I would stay here again.

Awesome place for a home away from home feel!
We stayed here for a trip to Longwood Gardens and Kennett Square. Very nice location and setup. Felt like a small 2 story apartment with pretty much everything that you need for a short stay. The owner Henry came over to say hi on our second day and was very nice. Overall very pleased with our stay and would choose again.

Longwood retreat
The location was very picturesque and calm. It served us well for a weekend. It was well situated to Longwood Gardens and Kennett Square. My only critique is the stairs that lead up to the loft were steep. And each step shallow. You need to be careful going down the steps!

Beautiful Property
We stayed in the West side of the duplex and it was a fabulous experience. The place was very clean, spacious and comfortable for 2 people. There is a kitchenette there with a microwave, toaster, small fridge and sink. Good for simple preparation or heating take out. The bedroom is upstairs and large. One tip as others have discovered is put the short person by the wall because of the roof pitch. The owner is friendly and leaves you some treats for when you visit his animals. Overall a very enjoyable 3 night experience, will definitely stay again if in the area.

It gets the job done
This property is ok if you don’t intend too spend any time there. If you use it like a hotel room then it’s ok. Basically it’s a bed to sleep in. The small efficiency kitchen doesn’t have a lot to offer. Very small sink, very small counter top, very small refrigerator and a microwave nothing else. It does have a small amount of silverware, cups, glasses, etc but your DEFINITELY NOT going too do any cooking there. Interior wise it’s pretty cool. It’s got a lot of exposed hand cut beams from an old barn but the structure is a steel building. It’s painted concrete on the ground floor and carpeted over I’m sure some beautiful wood floors upstairs. The bathroom is upstairs and is pretty modern. The corner glass shower Is very nice besides the shower head. Overall it was a place to sleep and the bed was comfortable, for our grandsons wedding which was 20 minutes away. The property has a few animals but we really didn’t have time to check them out. The surrounding towns are very quaint and small. Lots of good restaurants. Like I said it’s was a clean bed to sleep on for 3 nights. I would recommend it for someone looking for a nice unequipped clean place to stay for a couple of nights. It was quite besides the traffic speeding down the road directly out side. Parking is VERY SMALL but ok for 2 SMALL vehicles.
