The moon has a magic all its own. Its mystery and allure has captivated the human spirit since the beginning of time. The pull of the moon influences everything on earth, from ocean tides to the feeding patterns of animals. It's no wonder that we're drawn to the moon with a magnetism that stirs our imagination. The moon awakens us to that ancient connection we share with all living things. New River Retreat's "Mystic Moon", with its wide open sky views, rolling green pastures and tranquil river, is the perfect place to rediscover this sacred connection that we share with nature.

Mystic Moon is located on 107 rolling acres of farm land and has access to 3000 feet of river frontage. On one half of the river front you'll find a trail through the woods that leads to a deep swimming hole - on the other side you'll find a large field with shallow waters perfect for sitting a camp chair in on hot days and letting the water flow around you (also, there is a fire pit with firewood for incredible sunsets over the river). You can even bring your kayak, put in on one end and get out on the other! Hike down to the river/trail access or drive down - whatever you prefer! This access is only shared with three other homes. You also have access to the scenic 55 mile New River Trail which cuts through the property. Wake up to incredible sunrises.

Remote and great; agree with need for bigger bed
This is cabin sits on lovely piece of remote land in the New River Valley. Don't expect a short ride to the grocery store. It is remote which is what makes it great. It is a good size for two people. Three would be a stretch. I agree with the comments here that a king size bed is necessary given that there is only one bed in the house and no rollout bed of any kind. The lack of one will influence my decision to return in the future.

Anniversary Weekend!
We had an excellent stay at the property! We brought our Aussidoodle to celebrate our 44th wedding anniversary with us and what a place to celebrate our time together. The place was so comfy! After figuring out the TV with your help I was even able to enjoy the Ohio State vs Notre Dame football game. Yes, the best team won!! Hiking the New River Trail was awesome and just hanging out at the nicely appointed house was very comforting! Thanks for the stay!

This was a great getaway from the city. It was silent! I took my boyfriend there gor his 40th birthday with out dogs. The managemnt has a strickt pet policy, which I appreciate. They decorated the cabin in all sorts of birthday decoration and custimzed a cake. I absolutely recommend and we will be back.

Had a very enjoyable stay. The area is great for a getaway. The cabin/house was impeccable. The view was better than we had hoped for. Close to area dinning, shopping and activities. Make sure you visit the Mercantile, food is great. FATZ cafe is a great place to eat as well. Try the buttermilk chicken with gravy. It's calabash made and extremely delicious. You won't hear a thing out there unless the other cabins have guests. So enjoy the time you have there. We certainly did and spoke of returning. Thanks.....

Lovely Getaway
We enjoyed ourselves immensely! The property is well appointed and very comfortable. The views from the wrap around porch are spectacular. Bring binoculars to watch the cows with their playful calves and catch a few deer and turkey. We even had several days when the Navy fighter jets flew over the mountain tops! That was very cool! The 57 mile, flat, gorgeous New River Trail is a mere 5 minute drive away on private land or a short 15 min. walk. We spent a couple sunny afternoons fishing at the Retreat’s picnic area complete with chairs, a swing, a hammock, a fire ring, and firewood.

If you enjoy outdoors and activities with simple luxury this is perfect for you. it's gorgeous! Great access to the river and New River trail to bike. Don't miss out on building a fire down by the river- there is wood and fire pit. Cute mercantile in draper and dinner at Als on first was a lovely experience. Highly recommend

Everything about this place was amazing & our only suggestion to make it better would be to upgrade the queen bed to a king since the bedroom is plenty large enough for a king. And the queen mattress was a bit on the firm side for us. But everything else was perect & very easy access to the New River Trail for cycling or riunning.

Amazing View!
We travelled to this destination in order to access and ride bikes on the New River Rail Trail (located 1/2 mi from house). What came as a delightful surprise was the expansive and very beautiful view that made it hard to leave the front porch. We were very comfortable at the house which has everything you’ll need for cooking and serving meals. Bring supplies as groceries are not close by. One maintenance issue was fixed very promptly. We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely little house
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful little house. A couple notes: bring kitchen essentials, possibly including a carving knife and pot/pan, and maybe cleaning essentials (there was no dustpan for us to sweep after our dogs). Be careful of your GPS! Ours had us taking the wrong driveway, and we spent a good 20 minutes searching for the place. We did find it eventually and that was our only real hiccup. The river is beautiful and great for fishing. The jacuzzi tub was fabulous. The scenery was really lovely. Overall, super relaxing and peaceful.
