Suitable for short or long stays, this house is luxurious, spacious and full of charm, with panoramic views over the river Derwent looking towards the city and Mount Wellington. The view is magnificent day and night, every day is different and the varying palette of colours and hues of the vista is awe inspiring.
The large and stylish living area includes a generously appointed kitchen and butlers pantry with coffee machine / grinder and complimentary coffee beans ready for grinding, tea lovers are catered for too. Everything you need to cook your own meals is included (except for the food itself!!), with an 8-seater dining table looking out over the magnificent view. There are 2 living rooms, one with TV and gas lit fire and the other with stereo equipment for easy listening while looking at the view, exercising or relaxing.
There are 2 outdoor areas meaning you can sit outdoors no matter the weather, the front deck includes a fire pit.
The house has 4 generously sized bedrooms suitable to sleep 8 people. Three of the bedrooms have queen beds, and the other bedroom has 2 single beds. All beds have electric blankets and there is a range of bed clothes to cater for all requirements.
Cleanliness is a pillar of what we do and we take pride in maintaining a clean and healthy environment for our guests. All our beds are fitted with flat sheets beneath the doonas / duvets, and all linen (including doona / duvet covers) are washed after each and every stay. All our beds also come with premium ComfortTech memory foam pillows.
The master bedroom includes a walk-in wardrobe, toilet and ensuite bathroom. There is a separate bathroom and toilet for the rest of the house, and the bathroom includes a shower and bath. Two of the bedrooms (including master) have magnificent uninterrupted views over the river Derwent which is a beautiful way to wake up in the morning.
Another bedroom has glimpses of the river and direct access to the rear courtyard, and the last bedroom looks out on to the bush.
As you explore and get to know the house you will find a few beanbags lurking around, yoga mats/blocks, kettle bells etc if you feel the need to keep the body moving, and 2 sun loungers for use if the private secluded garden (from 1 December).
The space is ideal for kids to roam indoors and outdoors, with plenty of toys, books, art, board games, meccano, dress-up box, drawing board, small lawn outside along with a trampoline and ninja line. If you fancy a trip to the beach there are beach towels and beach toys for the kids. A high-chair is included and a cot can also be made available if required.
The house was designed to be very energy efficient and generally is heated and cooled naturally, which provides for a beautiful environment. For the harsher days when it is very hot or very cold, there is a powerful ducted heating and cooling system to ensure a hugely comfortable environment all year round, and a gas lit fire in the living room as previously mentioned.
The house is a good distance away from the main road and therefore overall the space is very quiet, peaceful and inspiring and you can make it your own. With the deck and courtyard accessed from the house you can open the doors and bring the outside in – the sounds, the smells, the energy.
The house backs on to the bush where there is lot to explore and running in to the local wildlife at dusk is likely. The back garden is host to a family of possums, and often visited by wallabies, bandocoots, echidnas and native birds (including a swift parrot habitat). The bush has many walking tracks to explore. The Tranmere area itself is a gateway to over 190km of coastline and 30 beaches in the municipality. Bellerive cricket ground is 7 minutes drive, Meehan ranges mountain bike area 7 minutes drive, city and airport 15 minutes drive, MONA 20 minutes drive. The world is your oyster here!!
We are pet friendly although we charge a small extra fee for this. We require guests to protect furniture with the rugs provided (see info in instruction booklet). Please note however the yard is not secure, but there are parks and beaches nearby to bring your animals for a walk.
Please also note the yard is a work in progress, its very hard to find landscapers at the moment. The yard is very usable though, including a grassed area for kids to do cartwheels and somersaults. Its just not quiet up to botanical garden standard!
No doubt you will want to come back and visit another time.
