Centrally located, squeaky clean YHA Hotel Hobart

An overnight stay, YHA Hobart was well located, short walk from the airport bus, across the road from a great bakery for quick breakfast and offered a good rate for a Friday night stay. Room was simple but squeaky clean with tea and coffee provided.

We stayed in a private room, with its own bathroom. Excellent option for the budget conscious. Everywhere we needed to go was within ten minutes strolling distance :) Highly recommended. We would definitely stay here again :) :)

The hostel is centrally located in Hobart. That is it's great advantage. However that does come at a cost as it's located on one of the busiest streets in Hobart, both day and night, with large trucks as well as cars passing. Beneath its many rooms and dormitories is a bar. It's a very nice bar, but its patrons can be very noisy in the late evening. The hostel staff are friendly and efficient and do their best to keep the hostel clean & neat. Some of their guests, however, need a lesson or two on social living and how to pick up and clean up after themselves. The common room and kitchen are small and workable. Large common spaces are unnecessary in a town with a wealth of affordable and pleasant places to eat, drink and play. I enjoyed my stay and look forward to a return visit. Hobart certainly has a lot to offer.

I probably wouldn’t recommend staying here. Communication and check in process wasn’t great and was left until the last minute. I checked myself in late and via text they told me that I didn’t need to check in in person yet the next day they had deactivated my card. I arrived back 15 mins before reception closed thankfully but if I hadn’t I would’ve been locked out. The WiFi was poor and inconsistent. There are no sockets near the beds. My bed sheets smelled as if they hadn’t been washed snd to be honest it felt like someone had slept in them? The pillow was so flat and uncomfortable, even doubled over. It really needs be be replaced. It was quite clean but that’s the only pro. The atmosphere is a bit weird and the weird layout makes it cold and eiree.

Great stay. Only issue was the bathrooms are combined with showers so they got messy with water and hair on the floor but this is a minor issue. Otherwise very nice.

Well located and good price-quality ratio. The staff is really friendly. The fact that you can have a whole bathroom for yourself feels luxurious. Just a couple of considerations: The bathrooms get flooded easily due to bad drainage but the staff was always on top of it all the time. Beware there is no elevator (though I’m certain is mentioned on their page) so if you have to carry your luggage you might have to do it through a couple set of stairs and fire doors. The amenities might be a little under the scale of people it can allocate, but at least during my stay, it was never an issue.
