However as the former guests had vacated the apartment several days earlier the building’s heating system was turned off, and only turned back on once we checked in. As the apartment is on the ground floor and a large portion is below ground in this lovely old building the apartment never really warmed up. "Neighborhood in Mainz was delightful! Sleeping arrangements as advertised - two bedrooms which sleep 2 each on 2nd floor, and one bedroom with other beds/futons on top floor. Kitchen was a bit underequipped compared to our other European VRBO experiences - no vegetable peeler, no saucepans smaller than multiple gallon, very minimal spices. Kitchen not really equipped to cook. Backyard is NOT AS ADVERTISED - overgrown and unkempt waist high grass made it unusable except patio and table directly...
