I was warned at check-in that the room I was given had not yet been renovated. I had stayed there a year ago and figured it would be the same, so that was fine. I had brought grandkids to use the pool and we didn’t need fancy. I did not expect it to be as grungy as it was. Although the linens smelled fresh (the only reason we stayed) the shower (which we did not use) looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time, complete with grout mold. (We didn’t discover this until hours after checking in.) All the walls throughout the rm were scuffed and badly needed to be repainted. I assumed the cheaper price online was because of being right after the holidays. Now I suspect it was more likely the run down condition of the property.
At check-in, we were specifically told breakfast would be served 6a-9a, even though the sign stated until 10a. We were lucky to have gone to breakfast by 8:15 because the hot food was almost gone and there was no staff around, even though the reception desk was only a few feet away. We were there over 40 minutes and no one ever came back to reception or came through to replenish the food. Several other guests said that was on probably on purpose because it had been the same situation the day before, except the hot food had been gone by 8a. When they finally tracked down staff to get service, they were treated very disrespectfully and with a lot of attitude.
I live locally and I will not be recommending White Pines Inn of Holland to anyone.
