Charming LAKE SUPERIOR Beach Cottage in Keweenaw, near Calumet. NORTHERN LIGHTS!

Discover your favorite home away from home on the Keweenaw Peninsula, right on LAKE SUPERIOR! Portside Cottage at North Shore Cottages has everything you want in a lakefront cottage and so much more. Our central location can't be beat and our hospitality is unrivaled.

Each of our cottages or lake-houses are private from one another with separate yards and driveways plus we have no neighbors along the shore for miles, unlike anywhere else up here. Fantastic for agate pickers, swimmers and sun bathers and those seeking the NORTHERN LIGHTS. While being uniquely quiet and private we still have the convenience of all local services including restaurants, emergency, floral to car repair in downtown historic Calumet a short 3.5 miles away. We are also conveniently located near all area attractions; Copper Harbor, Mt. Bohemia, Swedetown, and the Houghton/Hancock area.

The cottage has 1 bedroom with 2 double beds and a rollaway couch in the living room. The kitchen has all the necessities like gas top stove and refrigerator, plus extra amenities such as a microwave oven, electric coffeemaker, French Press, and toaster. Ample supply of utensils, pots and pans to cook. A variety of dish and glass-ware plus sundries such as dish soap and towels provided. The bathroom has a full bath/shower, Apotheke toiletries, hair dryer and all bath towels provided in a variety of sizes. High speed Wi-Fi is included for streaming, zoom, and all other high-speed needs.

Our location is very clean and well-maintained with an extra touch to create a memorable and relaxing stay. Our team takes great pride in their work and they go above and beyond to accommodate the guest with an unparalleled stay in Keweenaw. We love to help with special requests or can stock the fridge for an additional fee.

Open year round, come relax and enjoy the natural beauty and tranquility of the cottage surroundings from the wrap-around deck that overhangs above Brewery Creek and faces Lake Superior directly, just steps to the sand or relax in the cozy patio furniture. Take a kayak or stand up paddle board at sunset for an experience like no other. End your day with a beach fire and a night sky like you won't see anywhere else, aurora borealis or not.

You will truly love the beauty of the Copper Country and love staying at North Shore Cottages, even if you never leave your cottage! For close to 20 years we have been a go-to favorite for so many repeat guests year after year. We book out for summer and other popular dates at least 1 year in advance. Beautiful cottage poor communication
The cottage is beautiful. The view is amazing. But beware....there is no cell service when you get there, you will need to drive to the end of the road if you dont have the wifi password with you. We were not able to find the cottage. I had called and left a message for the owner even though the voicemail says not to and texted them trying to get help to find the cottage. I am still waiting for them to respond.

Perfection!!!!
The weather let us down but North Shore Cottages did not! Check in and check out couldn't have been any simpler. The kitchen was well stocked with all the utensils we needed. The attention to detail, the thoughtful welcome gifts, and the care in the set up of the whole cabin was so nice and welcoming. Truly above and beyond! You can tell that the host really understands what’s important to us travelers! While we never needed to contact the host for any issues, all of their contact info was in the welcome book if we needed it and I just know they would have been happy to help if needed! My daughter and I enjoyed the easy beach access and all the amenities! Can’t wait to visit again some day!!!

Wonderful cottage and location on Lake Superior
Our stay in early May was wonderful! There were no crowds, beautiful waterfalls, interesting weather variations (fog , frozen harbor) and beaches for walking and rock hunting (yooperlites)! The location is great for exploring Keweenaw Peninsula. We enjoyed nature trails, lighthouses, historic copper mines, and the mineral museum. The sunsets at the cottage were beautiful. The cottage is very comfortable, had everything we needed (and more), and the sound of the babbling brook is so relaxing! The hosts were very welcoming with treats on the table upon our arrival (delicious homemade bread, coffee and more) and they gave immediate responses to questions. FYI the "tourist season" opens in mid-to-late May, so some stores and restaurants were closed or had limited hours. It didn't impact our trip as we spent most of our time outside enjoying nature without crowds and insects!

Anniversary Getaway
My husband and I rented this cabin for our 10 year anniversary. The cabin was perfect for the 2 of us! One of our favorite parts of the trip was all the deer that came to the property everyday. We already plan to book with them again in the future!

Cottage on Lake Superior
Booked this cottage as a place to stay during the Copperdog150 race. Cottage offers a beautiful view of Lake Superior, bubbling creek along the side and is close to Calumet. No phone service, but Wi-Fi worked great. Would like to stay at this property in the summer when the beach can be explored more. Had a pretty hard time finding this property as it’s hidden behind the large blue house to the east of house 127 and you don’t have phone service to call the host. There were no house numbers on either house, which made it hard to find but would also be a concern if someone were to need emergency services. If you turn in the driveway and where the portside sign is, the cottage is back there. Was also disappointed that the description says the sauna is on the property, but it’s actually across the road (which might be the hosts whole property, but it’s portrayed as it’s close to the cottage). It isn’t a bad walk, but not as convenient as a few steps outside your door. Its more of a community sauna vs private to the cottage. Other than those two things, cottage was clean, tidy and had plenty of towels. Complementary welcome gifts were a nice touch.

Nice quiet little cottage. Great location. Plenty of wildlife to watch. A little tight - parking a 4 place snowmobile trailer, but we got it. We would like to visit in the the summer sometime to walk the beach.

Perfect Getaway!
My parents and I really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Cottage was clean, quaint and had everything we needed. Aside from exploring everything the neighboring towns had to offer, we really enjoyed our time at the cottage. We had breakfast every morning on the picnic table with a beautiful view of Lake Superior in sight, rock hunted every night, star gazed and enjoyed a fire on the beach. We never had a chance to use the sauna but our wonderful neighbors we had behind us used it and said it was great! We kept the window cracked in the kitchen every night and enjoyed hearing the sounds of the brook that ran alongside the cottage as we ate together and planned our next adventure for the following day. 10/10 recommend! We plan to be back in the Spring. Thank you, Phillip!

The weather was not cooperative but I could sit here all day and watch the waves. A herd of 14 deer crossed the creek one day. Everything you need is here, beds are comfy and I love the extra touches- coffee, snacks and water. Seemed very clean. We will be back!

Great in the winter too
Very cozy little cabin with a beautiful view of Lake Superior to the front, and a stream and woods to the side. The main room is amazingly light and everything about it was cozy, comfortable, and clean. I stayed for 10 days in February and enjoyed two blizzards during that time. Philip and company did a fantastic job of keeping the driveway clear and making sure I could get out to enjoy the snow.

Great property, will return!
This was a great stay! It's a small cottage (clear from the photos) but really well situated to be exactly what we needed. The place was cute without being too fancy, and they had all that we needed. It was a cold, windy, snowy weekend (perfection) and they even had pet friendly salt, considerate for our pups. We will definitely return in the summer to explore, but it was a perfect and gorgeous spot to enjoy a winter getaway in the UP.

A Superior Shoreside Stay!
Oh my gosh, this place was a dream! A bit out of town from Calumet, but it’s right on Lake Superior! The cottage was decorated adorably with comfortable beds and furniture. Fantastic western (sunset) views of the lake. Has private access to a rockhounder’s dream beach, we even found some yooperlights! No cell service here but great WiFi access. We only stayed for one night, but certainly wish we had the time to stay several more nights. This is certainly a stay we’d like to revisit again in the future!
