The House of the History of the Federal Republic of Germany (Haus der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik Deutschland) showcases a unique insight into Germany’s history, from the middle of the 20th century to today. Its permanent collection houses an intriguing investigation into the two German sub-states, the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic, as well as an insight into the country’s unity and its place in the globalized world.

More than 7,000 exhibits are spread across 43,000 square feet (4,000 square meters) of exhibition space. The exhibition begins with the end of World War II, when Germany split into two blocs. Learn about the divided nation, Cold War history and the identities of East and West Germany.
