"A beautiful converted train wagon nestled in the Welsh countryside. Very well put together with most amenities available. Very comfy bed - small but well sized for a intimate break together.
There were just a few things we thought to mention:
1. No WiFi came as a huge surprise. Personally we (and probably most) assumed there would be wifi. We would’ve really appreciated this being explicitly stated.
2. There was practically no communication from the hosts, just an empty email with a pin on...
"Really lovely old building nicely decorated, would have liked to have a gin and tonic by the fire in the evening but there was no bar when we stayed, can't wait to come back!"
"Had a great night with some great locals in the quiet little pub downstairs , the hotel staff were top notch as well. A must stay if ur in the area! "
"A lovely stay, comfy bed, clean bathroom, friendly owners and a great breakfast!
Would recommend! We stayed here whilst we visited the Winter Fair and had a key to come and go as we pleased"
"Room was excellent cafetière had not been cleaned. Dinner was excellent taste and service. Breakfast experience was not the same toaster was too small for bread, there’s was no choice scrambled eggs were not fresh unfortunately breakfast experience did not match the level I expected or experienced during dinner."
"I stayed in a fantastic room within this lovely property. The large kitchen in which breakfast was prepared (before our eyes) and served is wonderful."
"A very nice & convenient hotel for a weekend soaking up the atmosphere in Hay on Wye and browsing through the book shops.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
We were in Room 1 which is above the kitchen so noisy first thing in the morning. The signal for the TV was not reliable.
However, these did not detract from our wonderful stay. "

"I was made to feel so welcome from the moment I entered the premises. The room was so cosy and cute, with really nice touches of flapjacks, decent tea/cofee and luxury toiletries. The food was INCREDIBLE. I want to stay again!"

"The room I stayed in in this beautiful building was possibly one of the most beautiful I have ever stayed in. However when it came to the service of the staff there was a lot left to be desired... and this was in no means the fault of the staff of which there were only two... to run the bar and service the needs of the guests. I did feel that it was odd that every time I called the hotel before arriving that there was never anyone manning the phone, but regardless we were not put off. If I was to visit again, I would want to know that I wouldn't have to wait at an empty bar for 12 minutes before being served (I know the 2 staff, one of which was a trainee) were busy with the dining but at £270 a night, that isn't good enough and not my problem... I don't wish to seem petty but lots of other short comings occurred like being first into the dining hall and one of last to have our order taken, waiting until the end of our starter before our drinks arrived and taking far too long to reseat us when my wife couldn't read the menu because of the dim light. I get that there was only two staff and there were 10 couples in the dining room but this is a failing from a managerial point of view which I definitely didn't expect from such a seemingly highbrow establishment.
