About this property

Immerse yourself in the true romance of a classic Georgian building.

Immerse yourself in the true romance of a classic Georgian building, hidden in a secret Scottish valley. Take a stroll through the walled gardens, have a picnic beside the river or simply enjoy a soak in the hot tub as you take in the bird song.

Inside its traditional pink stone walls Guardhouse will be sure to meet all your expectations, with antique furniture, a woodburning stove, white fluffy towels, luxury bed linen and original Georgian features.

Though Guardhouse has a compact, yet well-equipped kitchen, in the garden you will find a spectacular outdoor kitchen which is fully equipped for outdoor cooking with the use of a top-of-the-range kamado charcoal BBQ and Ooni pizza oven. Positioned close to the outdoor kitchen is the woodfired hot tub, as well as a private sun terrace with a double chaise lounge to bask in the sun.

Mayen Estate, where Guardhouse is located, has many paths around its 700 acres where you can explore its historic rock gardens, woodlands, numerous ponds and arboretum. Also on the estate is a beautiful permaculture walled garden, which you can visit during opening hours.

There is much to see and do in the beautiful county of Morayshire:

Guardhouse just so happens to be perfectly situated at the heart of the Scottish castle trail, so there is certainly no shortage of ancient castles to visit as well as historic fishing villages, country houses and many different gardens.

For those who enjoy a long walk, there are countless coastal routes and hills to climb – a particular favourite for us would have to be Knock Hill, especially on a sunny day for the spectacular views.

If you are the adventurous sort, Glenlivet bike trails are a worthwhile visit with the routes ranging from blue to black. These are free to use, just pay for parking – if you cannot bring your own bike there are bikes available for hire at the centre.
