Seaview location in Inverarary, historic cottage within walking distance of town centre, sleeps 4

With its breathtaking views across Loch Fyne to the Arrochar Alps, Newton Cottage North is located within a short walking distance of Inveraray, a historic Scottish town.

With a pedigree dating back to the 1850s, and previously owned by the Duke of Argyll, the cottage is part of the town’s conservation area and stands alongside an interesting range of period properties.

Interior
Recently fully renovated by its new owners, the seafront cottage has a new kitchen and new flooring in the cosy downstairs living room, with its small dining area and French doors leading to the spacious back garden. The centrepiece of the living room is its cheerful log fire set in a delightful antique fireplace.

The front window looks straight out onto the loch, with sweeping views of the hills to the north, east and south.

Upstairs there are two inviting double bedrooms and a family bathroom. The rear bedroom has views over the garden, while the front bedroom has majestic views over Loch Fyne to the hills on the other side of the sea loch.

When you wake in the morning you can enjoy the impressive views and bird life without getting out of your cosy bed. Both bedrooms are stylishly decorated, ideal for a romantic retreat. The modern bathroom features a full size bath with electric shower and screen, basin and toilet.

The garden is sheltered on three sides by high walls, including a historic stone-built barn. The garden offers a safe play area for children and, is ideal for barbeques, sun-bathing and listening to the birdsong. There is a parking area at the top end of the garden and an outhouse where bikes, canoes and kayaks can be stored.

Newton Cottage North has a sister cottage next door Newton Cottage South which can also be rented. When both cottages are combined they sleep 8 persons comfortably. Ideal for larger parties.

Explore
Newton Cottage North is ideally situated within a short walk along the seafront to Inveraray, one of Scotland’s earliest planned towns. Inveraray offers a range of welcoming restaurants and shops. Adults and children alike will enjoy a visit to the town’s historic jail.

Our stay in Inverary
It was not very clean, particularly the floor. Cooker hobs were rusty, frying pan was rusty. I had to buy one to use. Fridge fell forward from under the unit when you opened the door. There was a live earwig in the microwave. Could not open the wardrobe door in the front bedroom as there was a light fitting stopping it. There was nowhere to put any clothes. Mattress was lumpy & you could feel the springs. Shower was useless it only stayed at a reasonable temperature for about 4 seconds then it was either scorching hot or ice cold . The only good thing about it was the hot water, lovely duvet on the bed & good oil filled radiators. Also the location. We would not stay here again.

Great time spent in this "dollhouse"
The house is well organised. I will share three remaks to help you to improve it : - we didn't find a hairdryer; - it was impossible to dry our clothes in the garden (with the sun) because the rope for hanging is durty, broken so too short - the table legs are now too short: they need to be wedged Thank you again for this booking: we will come again!

Mixed review.
This property needs some tender loving care. There were dirty dishes in the cupboard, no paper towels supplied and only the bare minimum of just about everything. The owner took several hours to respond to a question. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was nice enough. The location was very nice and we loved Inveraray.

Fabulous view
Superb location, view and comfy bed. This property was fine for 2 of us but ground floor area would be too small for any more people to be comfortable. It would be helpful if a cupboard or shelf could be cleared to enable own food storage. Cooker and fridge could be upgraded. Description needs to point out that the garden is shared. Location instructions for arrival are poor. You have to find the house on the busy road and then enter house to find parking instructions, which are also unclear. Information pack could give info on nearest doctor /hospital etc if needed.

A perfect cottage
Newton North was wonderful. Perfectly equipped, lovely decor, great location with marvellous views across the loch. Thoughtful extra touches like hot water bottles, binoculars, ice packs already in the freezer, etc. The only down side was the main road, which ran past the front door, with lorry traffic starting from early morning.

Beautiful location but not perfect
We stayed here as a family of 4 (2 children aged 7 and 10) and mostly had a lovely time. The location on the loch is stunning and the cottage had a nice bit of character and a decent sized garden (shared with next door cottage). However, the beds were very uncomfortable and badly need replacing. We knew there would be road noise but along with uncomfortable beds this made for very disturbed sleep. There was a note from the cleaner to say that they were cleaning to high standards due to covid 19, however I felt the standard of cleaning could have been better, especially in the fridge. The only other thing is not really a problem just something to bear in mind - it is very small and wasn't quite adequate space for us. Especially as the extending table was a little broken so would only confortable seat 2. Would probably better suit a couple, or couple with 1 child.

Simple, clean and homely
Very well presented. Everything seemed new and clean. Simple and homely. Great location. We visited Crinan, Port Appin, and Tarbet all within easy reach. Huge choice of walks and we particularly enjoyed fishing on Loch Awe from Loch Awe boats. Does have some road noise.

Beautiful Cottage
We (a family with 2 children) spent a couple of wonderful days in this very nice little cottage. The view on the loch is amazing and the traffic noise calms down almost totally during the night. The kitchen is well equipped and we had everything we needed. Inverary is a great place to stay when visiting Scotland!

Well deserved break in a fabulous cottage by the sea
Myself and my husband were able to grab a few precious days together and I booked Newton Cottage as the location for this. The cottage is very well located with unobstructed views to the lake and indeed just a couple of minutes walk from it. The cottage was very well laid out and a lot of thought had gone into the design, creating a lovely waterside atmosphere with the use of colours and furnishings. It contained all mod cons and everything you might need to cook for yourself if you so wished. Amenities were within a short walking distance and we were delighted to discover a Co-op almost next door (though you would hardly know it as it's off the main road) for any last minute needs. Access to the centre of Inverary was a few minutes walk away where you can find places to eat and drink if you wanted to do so. All in all, hiring the cottage was a very easy experience and good information was provided before and during our stay. We were so pleased, we decided that one day soon, we'll be back again.

Lovely location directly opposite the loch in Inverarey.
The location is excellent. There is a beautiful view from the front of the cottage which is directly next to the lock and has a stunning vista right across and down the lock. There is a back garden which is enclosed. It is a very short walk along the shore side to the village shops and restaurants and bars. Parking just across the road is convenient too. It is a small cottage for four adults, with only one comfortable settee, so a bit of a squeeze for the four of us! It is well equipped, clean and modern in decor. TV and wi-fi worked well as did dish washer, washing machine ect. Overall a very good choice a for a few days stay in a lovely location.

The cottage was really clean and the decoration made it feel like a beach holiday, very central for Inveraray town.

Weekend break with family
Have visited and worked in Inveraray before but usually stayed in hotels . Booked the cottage last minute a wee bit pricey but it was a holiday weekend . Arrived Friday night got parked over he toad and access to key with no problems . Cottage was very clean and tidy . Good garden at back which was a sun trap . Log fire was an added bonus with lots of fuel readily available . The only gripe was that the cottage is single glazed and when the lorries pass outside during the night or early morning it is a wake up call .
