The Canadian Rockies present a natural habitat for 69 species of mammals. Keep watch for frequent sightings of black bears, coyotes, elk and moose. Intercity buses connect Calgary and Edmonton with Jasper and other areas of the national park. Get around via public buses, organized tours, rented car and bike.

The national park is open year-round, although adverse weather conditions may force the closure of some areas in the winter months. There’s an admission fee, with discounts available for families, students and seniors. Book accommodation and camping pitches in advance from July to September.
