The road to the A-Frame is paved until the last ¼ mile which is a maintained dirt road. The last 100 feet to the cabin is steep. 4WD or AWD vehicles with good tires are required during winter months if there is snow on the road. A 2 wheel drive vehicle will not make it to the top if the road is snowy but will be fine on dry roads. There is parking just below the steep spot or at the bottom of the road. The road to the cabin is maintained by a tractor with a snow blower. If a winter storm is anticipated, the garage will be temporarily unavailable to guests to allow the tractor to be parked and ready to move snow. We do not offer refunds due to road conditions or winter storms. Please plan accordingly and consider purchasing trip insurance.

THE PROPERTY
When you arrive you will follow Prickly Pear Creek up the mountain. It is likely you will see deer or elk on your drive up. You will pass the horseshoe pits and the Little Black Shed, where you will find plenty of chopped firewood for nights spent around the Solo stove fire pit. The A-frame has a patio with 4 lounge chairs, 2 Adirondack rocking chairs, hot tub, grill and gas fire pit. A few feet away near the pine trees you will find a bench, and table with 4 chairs surrounded by café lights hung in the trees. Just down the hill is the wood fire pit with 4 Adirondack chairs and 4 stumps for tables or additional seating.
THE HOME
I fell in love with A-Frames many years ago, and wanted to design a retreat that would feel modern and luxe while providing that Montana big sky vibe. Inside is a thoughtfully designed home meant to maximize space in gathering areas and offer a unique lofted bedroom experience. There is room for everyone to gather as well as small private spaces for alone time.
LIVING SPACES
The A-frame has an open vaulted living room and kitchen perfect for gathering to visit, eat, watch a movie or pass the time with several board/card games and puzzles.
There is a loveseat and 2 barrel chairs with additional seating in the garage if needed for a party of 6. Enjoy your favorite movie on a 50” smart TV with access to your preferred streaming platforms or pair your phone to the bluetooth lantern speaker and enjoy your playlist. The French doors open to the outdoor patio. We recommend taking your shoes off to help keep the floors clean & dry during rainy, muddy or snowy conditions. The floors are heated! We provide a coat rack, boot rack & shoe mat to help keep the space comfortable. You will also have access to all cleaning supplies and a washer/dryer with detergent & dryer sheets to help you maintain your space during your stay.
KITCHEN
Adjacent to the living room is the kitchen with 4 counter stools and a high bar table with 3 chairs. The whiskey barrel art piece in the kitchen was handcrafted by local wood artist Emily Nelson.
Appliances include: electric stove, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, freezer with ice maker, coffee maker, electric kettle, toaster, blender, hand mixer, slow cooker, instant pot & air-fryer as well as cooking & dining essentials + stemless wine glasses, champagne flutes, Moscow mule and coffee mugs.
We provide salt, pepper, spices, olive oil/vinegar, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, apple cider and microwaveable popcorn.
This cabin is on a septic system; it cannot handle food scraps, or grease. There is a basket in the kitchen sink drain to stop food from going down; empty this basket into the trash as needed and at the end of your stay.
BEDROOMS
Each bedroom has a window for natural light and blackout shades for great sleep. All rooms are intentionally TV free, designed as a retreat from screens with soft and snuggly mattresses & linens. Every room has 2 waffle robes for hot tub trips, 4 towels, a luggage rack & bedside charging ports. Feel free to use the towels for hot tub use.
The Fawn Room: Queen
10 inch memory foam mattress with 2 pillows per person. Featuring the adorable Peekaboo Deer art piece that was created by local artist, Jeni Bateman. This room has a large closet where we keep the ironing board, playpen, highchair and other cabin items. There is still plenty of room for your luggage to fit in the closet. This bedroom is VERY small and cozy with a slanted ceiling on one side and just enough room to fit a small side table on each side of the bed.
The Fox Room: Queen
10 inch memory foam mattress with 2 pillows per person. The closet in this room is smaller than the Fawn room to accommodate for the in-floor heating unit. We love the little fox print that hangs on the utility door. There is still room to store luggage in the closet. This bedroom is VERY small and cozy with a slanted ceiling on one side and just enough room to fit a small side table on each side of the bed.
The Loft: King
12 inch memory foam mattress with 2 pillows per person. The loft has a sitting area with 2 wingback chairs and a table with lamp - perfect for cuddling up with a book or taking in the mountain views while sipping your favorite beverage. The loft provides a great vantage point for observing the herd of elk and deer that frequent the mountain behind the A-Frame. Binoculars provided! There is a blackout shade on the back window but the loft is open to the rest of the home. If you are staying with others, the loft is not a private or quiet bedroom. There is a privacy screen for changing and hanging your clothes. There is no baby gate for the stairs and the loft is a 12 foot drop to cement floor. Small children and infants must be supervised at all times.
BATHROOM
The bathroom is located on the main floor. It is small but functional with a shower – no bathtub. Full size professional hair dryer, cotton pads, Q-tips and makeup towels are provided along with Public Goods shampoo/conditioner and body wash. We also offer additional amenities you may have forgotten to pack. Please note that the bathroom fan is very quiet and the cabin is very small. We have a white noise machine available for moments when you might want a little more background noise.
This cabin is on a septic system. Do not flush hygiene products, wipes, or excessive tissue, EVEN ONES MARKED AS FLUSHABLE, as this will cause a blockage and render all plumbing unusable.
Guest access
Guests have access to the entire cabin & garage with the exception of a locked supply cabinet. Feel free to explore the 20 acre property by foot or snowshoe. This is bear country - as you are exploring our property, be mindful of your surroundings, make noise and carry bear spray, especially in the spring and fall.
ATV’s or dirt bikes must stay on the main driveway/road only. There are multiple ATV trails that you can ride to from the A-frame. We recommend Tizer Lakes, Park Lake, Boulder Tunnel, or a day trip around Tizer loop to explore multiple abandoned mines. We are happy to provide more directions for great riding trails. Please do not cross fence lines onto surrounding private property.
Guests can park in the garage unless we need to temporarily park the tractor there for snow removal. The garage is big enough for a crew cab long box truck w/doors open. Guests are welcome to utilize the garage to store bikes, coolers, and other outdoor gear. Please do not roll or drag coolers across the A-Frame floor. There are hooks in the garage to hang snow clothes and other gear as space in the A-Frame is limited. Sled and snowshoes provided.
*There is ample parking for trailers (horse, ATV, motorcycle) at the lower parking spot near the property line. Please do not pull trailers up to the A-frame.
