Location is not ideal
My group of 6 colleagues (all women) booked this house because the hotel where our conference was taking place was over booked. The house itself was just OK. Our biggest issue with this property is the location. This is not really in a good part of town. Yes, it’s very close to a cute historic neighborhood + Country Club Plaza, but the house is still on the border of a bad area. Every Uber we took, the driver basically had the same unsolicited warning, "Um, this is not a good area, don’t hang outside your house or walk anywhere." Sooo right from the start that made us feel uneasy the entire first night. The 3rd floor A/C box wasn’t working so that bedroom was very warm. The back door handle had a basic lock but the deadbolt lock was not working – and some of the windows didn’t lock. We all had a really bad night of sleep to sum it up. One girl got locked in the first-floor bathroom somehow and we had to jimmy the door lock open with a butter knife to save her, LOL … There were other random issues that popped up. (I’m sparing the lengthy details because I’m not trying to ream the property manager). Ultimately, we checked out of this house two days early because this was just not the right place for us and our event hotel had availability.
On a positive note, the property manager was very helpful and responsive. He came over Sunday to fix the AC box and dead bolt on the back door (thank you!) I wish the property could have worked out differently for us.
