There was a slight issue with our reservation on the booking agency side which they rectified immediately with no additional cost to us. "The garden surrounds and leafy setting around the accommodation were lovely. The soft furnishings in the restaurant areas were tired and a bit grubby. Dinner and breakfast was uninspiring with ordinary presentation. We found a restaurant in town that served much better food. We stayed in a glamping tent, which was fine. "I absolutely loved staying at the River View Lodge. The staff is amazing and SO helpful. The lodge itself is small but very lovely - right on the river,with a nice outdoor lounge area and small pool. The food was great and so much better than I expected for a place its size. Aside from the awesome staff, the best part are the activities offered. On the morning game drive we saw lions, leopards, zebras, and much more. The late afternoon river cruises were relaxing and exciting at the same time, with great views of hippos, crocs, and of course, lots of elephants. I strongly recommend staying here and taking advantage of the wonderful property and activities."

Inconsistent, but very very charming

"Really enjoyed our stay here. It was such a characterful hotel and our room was gorgeous with beautiful views over the Chobe river from the balcony. The game drives and river cruise were really good and a reasonable price. I would say, the service was very up and down, sometimes outstanding, at other times quite cold and disorganised. The same is true of the game drives, one was incredible, the other was quite mediocre. Food too, sometimes was exceptional (like the BBQ at the poolside bar), at other times the buffet was chaotic and poorly managed (like the stir fry nights, where the food was really good, but the queue chaotic and badly thought through). But to be honest, for all of this, this just added to the charm and authenticity of this hotel. At times the inconsistency just made us laugh. For instance, ordering at the bar would take more than 2 hours for food to come; even if it was just a pizza! And one staff member asked us to buy her something from the shop, and seemed genuinely hurt and disappointed when we didn’t get her a gift. I wouldn’t stay here if you want total; polished luxury. But if you want character, authenticity, and a beautiful riverside lodge, I would easily recommend it and I would definitely stay again hence my 5 star review. I really had a soft spot for this hotel for all its eccentricities. "

"Very large property, very well maintained. Room was large and clean. A/C worked great. Selelo was our host; very kind and attentive. Assisted us with booking events. Accompanied us a a boat safari. Food was excellent. Game drivers: Lesh and Jinx went above and beyond to try to meet our every request. We were lucky enough to see nearly every type of animal in the park. Highly recommend this place. "
