Fun and funky retreat
We really enjoyed the funky fun location and architecture. There was everything we needed in terms of kitchen supplies and linens. We were there in late August and there is no AC but lots of fans so It was pretty hot and humid. Just be prepared. We slept better when we threw the sheets in the dryer for a few minutes just before going to bed. The hot tub on the lanai is lovely! And the private jungle location is lots of fun!

Highly Recommend
Love, love, love this place! Upon entry, the place was even more whimsical than the listing leads one. There were producing fruit trees in the yard and the garden was so pleasurable to walk through. The king-sized beds were very comfortable and the breeze throughout the house left no need for A/C. The property manager was quick to answer any questions we had and was very attentive and nice. Even though the property seems remote there were stores within a 10-minute drive for last-minute dinner needs. We were graciously granted early check-in and late check-out. We stayed 5 days and it was not enough!! Can't wait to return and stay again. Mahalo nui to our hosts!!!

An interesting and enticing experience
The house was quite interesting and the build was quite amazing. We were surrounded by lots of nature and found the frogs croaking to be an interesting touch. We were also surprised and thrilled that there weren’t any bugs in the house. Thom, the owner of the house gave us some local information and replied very quickly.

We selected this property because the house was so unique and full of character. It did not disappoint! It was built by a shipbuilder from an old water cistern with additional rooms and a generous veranda built around it. One of the most impressive aspects was the large lot with lush tropical landscape. Sitting on the veranda you felt like you were in the middle of a jungle. We’d sit out there every morning and evening listening to the wildlife. The house was close to a couple small towns, not far from Hilo and several other destinations we wanted to explore on the Big Island. The floor plan was a little awkward in that you had to get to the second bedroom through the bathroom or from the veranda, but being a small family we made it work. Thom was extremely helpful and responsive to all out questions and offered excellent recommendations of what to see.

Amazing
This property is truly an oasis- if you are looking for an extremely quiet tranquil location to relax and use as a home base to explore the east side of the big island this is a great option. Thom the property manager is terrific and local and very knowledgeable about the area and had a lot of great suggestions! This place also had A/C which was great for cooling off after a hot day of hiking and exploring. The kitchen was well appointed with all you need to make your own meals which I will say is how we roll and there is no delivery in the area and most restaurants are in the towns about 10-15 minutes away. There is a beach about 5 minute drive away that’s very private- not a huge white sand but small black sand beach- also a very cool area to explore at end of street where the lava flow took over the landscape. We had a great stay for 5 days here and would definitely suggest it to anyone looking to get away!

We had an amazing stay. The property is beautiful, the house was perfect for us.. we woke up to the sounds of birds and rain.. the sun peeking in through the 360 windows on the top floor, went to sleep to the sounds of nature.. Thom was amazing, had great insight on the island and it’s happenings. Super friendly and answered all our questions. A+++ We will be back for sure!

Fun House, Perfect Location
This was such a fun place to stay! The location was perfect to access any of the Hilo side attractions with fairly short drives to any of them. I felt like I was staying in the middle of the rain forest. Yes, the frogs, birds, and rain on the roof were noticeable at night, but I loved listening to them and just threw my ear plugs in when I was ready to sleep. The house was stocked with anything you may forget (toiletries, shower stuff, kitchen essentials, beach gear) and there were plenty of towels and bedding for everyone. We picked oranges, mandarins, and lemons off the trees and they were better than anything you'd get at the grocery store! This property was build in the early '80's so don't expect everything to be perfect. It was clean and cute and the perfect place to relax after a long day of sight seeing. Thom, the property manager, was in touch with me the day before we arrived and gave wonderful recommendations for things to do and was always quick to respond if I had any questions.

One of a kind
Never stayed at a place where I really didn't want to leave to go anywhere. Until now. So relaxing and attractive. Wife wanted tropical and lush and she got it. Definitely quirky but with all modern conveniences and one world class deck, wrap around, wide and covered so the occasional rain was quite welcome. Previous complete solitude is reduced somewhat with the development of properties on both sides but still quite private. Kudos to Thom for prompt replacement of broken coffee maker and info on local points of interest. Hope to return.

Oasis treehouse
My family of 4 had a lovely experience staying at the Hawaiian Paradise Park. The moment you drive up you are transported into a lush paradise. The property is surrounded with thick tropical vegetation(including fruit trees) and great for your littles to run around. The manager, Thom, is easy to communicate with and offers great local suggestions during your stay. It's like having your very own concierge. If you are looking for a tropical paradise, away from the condos and close to Vocanoes NP and all the fun things in Hilo this place is great.

Tried, but couldn't stay there
We were willing to overlook the lack of cleanliness of this site, given it's cute funky details. It was quite romantic! We overlooked that we couldn't get any TV (mostly for news/weather purposes, and the manager recommended WE resolve it with the cable company!). But we couldn't overlook the "DRIP, DRIP, DRIP" of the lack of drainage system on the home from the rain. The rain itself was lovely and soothing, but the drip all night made it unteneble. We left halfway through our pre-paid stay. We have asked for a refund, and have not had any response. Everywhere else we stayed on the island was great.

Truly Magical
This sweet little round house set in a private tropical paradise is just what our family of three needed. We were hoping to find a little rental that was fun, funky, and felt close to nature. This was EXACTLY what we were hoping for and so much more! Our daughter loved sleeping in the top bedroom. Every night we were serenaded by the sound of rain and frogs and woke up in the morning to bird calls. Loved the beautiful grounds with all of the tropical foliage and the kitchen was set up super well to cook some meals at home and just enjoy the surroundings. This was the prefect home base for a week of adventures. We are all sad to leave it and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Unique Hawaii house we called home
We adored this house and our time in Hawaii. Jennifer was an incredible host and checked in multiple times during our stay. Everything we could need from the kitchen, to bathroom or beach gear to use during our stay made our time there so relaxing. Pahoa was a short drive for a market or breakfast trip! (Go to Pele’s and visit their farm - so amazing!) Walmart and Target are in Hilo- 22-30 minutes away if necessary. We loved coming home each day to this unique home. Thank you for such a wonderful stay.

One of a kind Tropical Bungalow
A wonderful one of a kind round house designed around a giant wooden water tank. Great porch, wonderful property lush green and fruits ripe to pick, hot tub (make sure it's operating, if this is important to you, as it was broken and supposed to be replaced at time we visited), near to volcano park, some smaller local beaches, great farmers markets, and near to Hilo. Lots of birds and frogs singing, and Geckos everywhere. This area lost its best snorkeling in 2018 lava flow, and beaches & snorkeling are ok, but not exceptional. Yet the area is pleasant not developed with large resorts and Hilo feels like a local city, rather than resort town. Some good, fun, affordable local restaurants within 20-30 minutes. The owner was very attentive to our needs and super friendly. The place was clean, but it is old, and funky, not a sterile bug free condo. So, if you don't like nature...

Peaceful spot
The photos are accurate - this is a fun, funky, peaceful, green place to stay. My only complaint is that the water heater can be temperamental. It wouldn’t always come on once the hot water was opened. You may need to try twice to get a hot shower (of course the cold water isn’t all that cold anyway).
