If you like outdoor adventure, including climbing, walking and cycling, you are surrounded by some amazing scenery and routes around Blencathra and the Helvellyn range. The location is perfect as you are only ½ mile to the A66 which regular visitors will know is the main artery through the Northern Fells from Penrith to Cockermouth, so accessing the whole region is a piece of cake. The village of Threlkeld is less than a mile away with a choice of two good restaurants and pubs serving local ales and great food. While a short ride of less than 5 miles brings you to the tourist hot spot of Keswick. This vibrant town has a great outdoor market and plenty of places to eat and drink, and is a firm favourite offering plenty of deli’s, bakeries, coffee shops and local craft stalls. It’s bustling centre has an abundance of quality restaurants, pubs serving local cask ales, independent shops and the famous outdoor and fashion brands.
If you like culture, check out the Theatre By The Lake, 5¼ miles away, with its award-winning arts and drama on the banks of Derwentwater, where you can also hire a rowing boat. For family fun why not try Puzzling Place, 5 miles, a mind boggling attraction based on optical illusions, or the Derwent Pencil Museum, home to the largest pencil in the world, also 5 miles away. For a really wild day out, try the Lake District Wildlife Park at Bassenthwaite or The Lakes Distillery, which offers daily tasting and tours, 12 miles away.
