Pros: Right on the canal, clean, spacious, screened patio, barbecue grill, close to many restaurants and a Publix grocery store, close to FL Keys Visitor Center (highly recommend stopping there for information if you are unfamiliar with the Keys), close to many snorkeling and dive companies (highly recommend Reef Resort).
Cons: Neighbors across the canal are loud and have a small beagle dog that they leave outside 24/7, which is heartbreaking to watch when it's 90 degrees outside. The poor dog whines most of the day to get inside. I know this is out of the hosts control, but it definitely affected our enjoyment of the property. Another big disturbance was the on-going construction at the property right next door. This was not mentioned in the listing, but I feel should be. Contractors would show up at 7:00 a.m. and once even on a Sunday morning with heavy equipment, drilling, sawing, nail guns, etc. They also played loud music while working. We ended our stay several days short because of this and the host refunded us for the days not used.
The host mentions that there are two kayaks for exploring in the FL Keys, however, there is no dock to launch the kayaks. You have to drop them from the sea wall into the canal and have the ability to launch yourself back up on to the concrete to get out.
It would have been nice to have a couple of lounge chairs for relaxing out front. All of the outdoor furniture are straight chairs.
