Road Access and Auto Escort Service: During or after a snow storm, the Generals Highway to Montecito is only plowed to the Y area of the road (2 miles past the Kings Canyon National Park entrance) and guests cannot drive to Montecito past this point. Guests must meet Lodge staff at the Grant Grove parking lot for a vehicle/guest escort via a single administrative lane plowed from the Y to Montecito. Guests must contact the property when they arrive at the parking lot. Escort to Montecito is available at 5 PM and from Montecito at 10 AM (times depend on plowing schedule, call 559-565-3388 to confirm escort times). During storm conditions, the National Park Service requests that vehicles are not on the roads after escort at 5 PM.
All vehicles are required to carry chains in their vehicle during the winter season (November-May). Highway 180 is the only reliable means of entrance to the property during the snow season. On the day of arrival, please contact the property.

Lodging in the park can be tough as it's limited. That being said, this lodge easily provides the most value and the best star gazing and break away from the tourists. Three amazing meals a day saves a lot of money and time and the meals there were better than any place we ate up and down the sierras. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Waking up next to the lake and nature and campfires with smores at night was icing on the cake. Beds were comfortable as well. Highly recommend!

The place was interesting and we enjoyed our stay however it was a bit inconvenient for people our age (late seventies). The room was upstairs and the stairs were many and steep. The staff was very helpful though and they carried our bags up on arrival and down on departure day. The detour to get to the lodge was very long along dirt road. The food was very good and plentiful. In the end we had a good stay but probably will not return.

The 3meals a day included in price was awesome. Plus they had snacks, fruit, drinks available 24 hrs. The place is very run down. Rooms were satisfactory, needs a lot of updating. Main entrance was washed out due to storms in the spring so they had a service road in. It was ok, but they should tell you before booking as part of it was dirt. Could be a very nice place to stay if “ cleaned up” around the property & updated.
Somewhat rustic but updated accommodations included dinner and breakfast and outdoor activities with stay. Very relaxing and lovely. Road into the lodge is a service road at this time and that was a little daunting. Wouldn’t have wanted to drive that in the dark. Overall probably the favorite place we stayed for our week long road trip through some national parks. The hot tub was out of commission but pool was open and canoes and paddle boats were also available.

Pretty typical for a family lodge, although this one seems to have a bit more deferred maintenance than other lodges that I've visited. We were only in the park for one night, so the main entrance detour wasn't a huge deal, but if I was there for multiple days, it could be a greater annoyance -- but at close to a million dollars for a new bridge that the park administrator will approve, it may be a while before this is replaced. Some of the guests are not very considerate and would park right around the lodge and block the handicap parking instead of parking down in the lot. Our room had dark colored towels. There's a reason that most places use white towels, because it's hard to tell if a dark colored towel is really clean.. Also, the cleaning solutions left behind a stink in the rooms and in the dining hall. It would be nice if they moved to fragrance free cleaning solutions and let us enjoy the smells of the forest and the food. The staff was great.
This lodge is a hidden gem in an area with very few options for staying. And has a very reasonable price, esp. considering you get three free meal services a day, bevergae service 24/day, a heated pool, and close to all the best the park has to offer. Remember, you are national forest where there are no 4-5 star resorts. For thr location this is 4-5 stars for that area for sure. The owners and staff do a great job of accommodating your needs and you can tell they care about thier guests.
The property was reminiscent of youth camping programs with delightful staff. The available activities, food, lake and sunrise views, were also a plus. Definitely will recommend.

it’s very dated. the photos are a bit “optimistic”. room was just a bit too icky. generally clean but just not sure if the bed linens were all clean. bathroom was clean but shower curtain smelled. to be fair it is billed as a camp like atmosphere and it is fine. i just don’t care for it.

The meals were good, but there was a detour to the property due to the bridge being out. The hot tub wasnt working and the pool was dirty. The buildings are also in need of repair.
Overall I would not recommend,
The lodge is dirty, the stuff not friendly and they deceive people regards all their activities, they say one thing on their website and complete opposite in reality, nothing what they advertise is true except 3 times a day meal
Rustic, going along with the vibe of Sequoia National Park, but comfortable beds, good heater, hot water, and quiet, beautiful setting. We were surprised to find lots of activities: pickleball, archery, ping pong, trampoline for the kids, paddleboards, paddleboats, just hanging and enjoying the scenery.
This property is in need of an update and was NOT worth the price! When we arrived at our “deluxe” cabin, it obviously had not been vacuumed, smashed dead bugs were on the windows, and our thermostat didn’t work! A couple of light bulbs weren’t working, the light above our dining table flickered so much we had to turn it off, and the deck railing was falling apart. The all-inclusive meals were buffet style with only a few choices and those weren’t good. The main road to this “resort” is closed and the detour is a one lane winding dirt road. And, the property is at least 45 minutes from anything worth seeing in the park. Overall this was a terrible experience!
I loved the serene and friendly atmosphere. The activities and food were great!

I hate to give this place a bad review since the staff was excellent and it was so clean. Unfortunately getting to the lodge was a hassle because of the dirt one lane detour which was not at the fault of the lodge. Signs were very clear but we didn't get a heads up about it. Also unfortunately the room had a smoke detector that went off at 10:00 pm at night and I didn't know how to turn it off so I used earplugs to get to sleep. Also we had a room next to the stairs which we could hear people coming up and down the stairs all night. Other than that everything was fine. It was nice to have snacks and drinks available and the breakfast and dinner was an added plus.
