Waterside Cottage Adjacent to Frogmore Creek, Part Of The Salcombe Estuary

Forget-me-not-cottage is a charming cottage set right on the side of Frogmore Creek. The long enclosed south facing cottage garden backs onto the Creek giving beautiful views of the Estuary and its abundant wildlife and rolling hillside beyond. The Summerhouse, overlooking the Creek, is a wonderful place to relax and unwind. Frogmore is situated on the East side of the Salcombe/Kingsbridge Estuary, close to the fabulous golden beaches of Salcombe and East Portlemouth and just a five-minute drive from the pretty waterside town of Kingsbridge with its many shops, pubs and restaurants. Historic Dartmouth is just a short drive in the opposite direction, along what must be one of the most spectacular coastal routes in the country. Frogmore has its own bakery, which sells freshly baked bread and croissants! It also has a post office and dining pub all just a couple of minutes walk from the cottage door.

The COTTAGE is very well presented, stylishly furnished and well equipped, particularly for young families.

KITCHEN/DINING ROOM/SITTING ROOM/SUMMER HOUSE

Luxury fitted cottage KITCHEN with solid wood worktops. The smart appliances include a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, oven and hob. The DINING AREA has a large table and four high backed chairs. The very comfortable bright south facing SITTING ROOM has a wood burner, two double sofas, flat screen TV, Blu-Ray DVD, coffee table (trunk) and of course BT Wireless Broadband. Double French windows open to a large sun drenched courtyard with pretty painted trellis, antique bench, table, chairs, parasol and BBQ. A walk down the lovely garden, stocked with beautiful flowers, takes you to the SUMMER HOUSE with fabulous south facing views across Frogmore Creek. Furnished in a smart beach house style, easily doubling as a second sitting room with two sofas and two easy chairs able to accommodate eight people. The Summer House opens onto a large deck area, equipped with table and chairs and parasol, which certainly give you one of the best ways to fully appreciate the beauty of Frogmore Creek.
This is fabulous place to relax, have lunch/dinner and an early evening sundowner where you can watch the local fishermen going about their business or watch the children playing, crabbing or kayaking in the creek (please contact the owner if you would like to use their kayaks which are kept at the bottom of the garden - one of the best ways to fully appreciate the Creek). Steps take you down to the Creek and part way down is a bench also ideal for “Creek watching”.
An added bonus is that this is also a great place to chill out in the winter with an oil radiator heater. Full electrics with lamps and tallboy drawers fully stocked with games and puzzles and many books for all ages.

BEDROOMS AND BATHROOM

The spacious MASTER BEDROOM takes advantage of the lovely Creek view and has a luxury king-sized bed, a bedside cabinet a large chest of drawers plus plenty of hanging space. The BATHROOM has a bath, shower, W.C. and wash hand basin. Here too you have views of the Creek. The SECOND BEDOOM has twin single sleigh beds with matching bedside chest of drawers. A built in wardrobe is just outside this bedroom on the landing. N.B Duvets, pillows, linen and towels (excluding beach towels) are included.

Great location for exploring the local area. Loved having the creek at the bottom of the garden, good for kayaking & paddle boarding if you get the tide right.

Lovely weeks stay
Lovely cottage in a great location. The summer house at the end of the garden is a great place to sit with a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine looking at the views. Ideally located for long or short walks and many tourist places with 45 mins. Local pub over the road offers great food for an easy evening out. Would recommend to a couple or small family for a lovely week.

Good location for exploring the beautiful Devon coast
Cosy and comfy cottage with nice views of the creek from the lovely garden. Well equipped kitchen and very comfortable beds. Summer house good with books and games for the kids. Didn't get the tides so didn't manage to use the kayaks unfortunately. Great location for visiting Dartmouth, Salcombe and surrounding areas. Fantastic beaches and coastal walks nearby. I didn't do my research properly and the road was much busier and noisier than expected but this didn't spoil the stay. Good communication from the owners.

Summer Break
We had a fantastic time at Forget Me Not cottage, what a find! The cottage Itself is lovely with attractive furnishings, comfortable beds, high quality bedlinen and a beautiful view of the creek from the main bedroom. However it was the summerhouse which really made our holiday as this is where we spent most of of our time. The position overlooking the creek is magical, so peaceful with such lovely views. We watched the children kayaking from the deck in the evening while we sipped a glass of wine and prepared a BBQ, bliss! Later we put the lamps on inside making it really cosy and played board games, great family time! Another bonus was the fact that the cottage had parking which can so often be a problem in so many seaside towns. For a family of 4 it was the perfect getaway mainly because of the different areas it had to offer; the cottage itself, the garden, the summer-house and of course access to the creek ( and kayaks!) we will definitely be returning!

A great place for BBQs and daydreaming
We really enjoyed our week at Forget Me Not Cottage in July. We chose the cottage mainly due to the garden which leads down to Frogmore Creek. There’s a Summer house at the end of the garden where we spent most of our time watching the wildlife and having BBQs. We used the kayaks and also went paddle boarding too. Great fun! The cottage itself is small but worked brilliantly for us. As mentioned in other reviews, the cottage could do with a bit of maintenance. The bathroom is a bit tired and in the kitchen the dishwasher is very wobbly needs fixing into the unit. All to be expected from a popular holiday cottage but it would be nice to have fixed. The cleaners did a great job and everything was spick-and-span. The house is located on a busy road, but this didn’t affect us because the main bedroom in on the back of the house. Parking is tight but we parked our SUV with a bit of room to spare. Overall, we really enjoyed our holiday and would return.

Busy road at the front of the property but peaceful down the garden in and around the summerhouse with great views over the creek. Property is nice although would benefit from a bit of updating and updating of the information provided to guests. Nicely located for visiting the South Hams area

Helpful owners
Everything about the property was great. Comfortable beds which is particularly important! The owners were really helpful, responding to questions quickly and offering tips for the local area, even going so far as to let us use their personal kayaks on the creek (not part of the rental). Nothing was too much trouble, thanks for a lovely stay!

Fantastically located cottage
We had a lovely stay in this very well situated cottage. We really loved being able to kayak from the river at the end of the garden, and this was a huge highlight for our children. The cottage was close to some lovely beaches (Blackpool Sounds and Mill Bay were our favourites), great crabbing off the quay in kingsbridge, and great places to eat (we enjoyed the high tide BBQ at the millbrook inn, and lunch at the crab shell inn). I’d say the cottage is probably better suited to couples as it felt a bit snug for our family of four - but we knew from the photos that it was going to be on the cosy side and it didn’t affect our holiday at all because we had amazing weather, and were outside most of the time.

Stunning views
We spent a week at the cottage and certainly did not want to leave. After reading other reviews we knew the road was noisy but that didn’t bother us as most of the time we were in the summer house reading or playing cards watching the tide go in and out and found it really relaxing. Later in the evening we would watch tv in the living room and there was no traffic noise. We slept in the back bedroom and have decided to buy the same bedding as it was so comfortable. The shower was powerful but it was best to put the immersion booster on for the second person just in case. All in all fabulous views and summer house, great host letting us know the best walks and places to eat. We will happily stay there again, and more than likely will

Idyllic little escape
We stayed at the cottage over October half term with our two young children. The owners were very communicative and gave very clear instructions and advice on the surrounding areas. The cottage itself is super cute. Perfect for a small family. The jewel is the garden which backs onto the creek and has a lovely summer house which was lovely to explore from even in colder weather. The location of the cottage is perfect to explore that area of the coast. There are lovely family friendly places to eat and a plethora of beautiful beaches and walk. We absolutely loved our stay.

What a gorgeous cottage with the most beautiful setting on to the creek. We all loved it here, paddling, crabbing and fishing by day and cosy log fires by night. Great location and easy to access all of our favourite places. Lovely to have a call ahead of our visit checking in and seeing if we needed anything. Would highly recommend.
