"I stayed here for one night before catching a flight to another island. At €100 per night – the most expensive rate I’ve paid on Cape Verde – it was a huge disappointment. As a Gold Member on Expedia, I was promised a bottle of sparkling wine, which was missing. Instead, my room came with a cockroach (photo attached). Maybe it drank the wine for me. The air conditioning didn’t work, the shower drain was clogged, and mosquitoes thrived in the stagnant water. Housekeeping seemed questionable too...

"Fint hotell om man, som vi, inte är så fortjusta i de där stora hotellkomplexen. Hotellet har 37 rum och ligger ungefär 15 min promenad från centrala Santa Maria. Vill man ta taxi kostar det 5 euro. Helt ok frukost och maten i hotellets restaurang var alltid god och vällagad. Ibland fick man vänta ganska länge på sin beställning och det blev vid några tillfällen lite fel och missförtånd. När vi anlände till hotellet fick vi besked om att det var överbokat och rummet vi bokat och betalt för fanns...

"When we arrive at 2 o'clock in the morning we discovered that we had no room there,even if we had booked in April and we had to go to another Melia resort in the nearby. we were very disappointed also for the standard of the premises that it is not at all a 5-star hotel, as you can see from the picture. We had to argue all the time with the respinsables to have 2 roomkeys (not available we had just one ), to enter the spa and to reserve restaurants. Luckily all the ordinary staff was very kind...
