There is a house watchman, Sagrario, across the street, who is available everyday if you have any issues. She will be there to give you the keys, show you the house and get you acquainted with the area. She is available for hire to cook delicious Costa Rican food as you wish. And she is very well connected in the area and can help with any activities you may be interested in. SUP paddle boarding lessons, surfboard rentals, horseback rides through the mountains or on the beach, hikes, waterfalls, fishing and more..
The house is located in a very small village called Langostino (Little Lobster Village) located in Pilon of Pavones. This small village is located just 15 minutes from the town center of Pavones and 15 minutes from Zancudo beach. All the locals are super friendly and welcome tourists from around the world. Keep in mind the pace of life is slow. Pavones is home to the 2nd longest left break in the world. Zancudo beach also has great surfing. And there are several other breaks around the area.
Many locals walk, bike, or use motorized bikes to get around. We recommend renting a car. But you can rent a bike or ATV in Pavones. You can take a taxi from Golfito airport to house for about $80.
Please keep in mind the area is rural. The internet speed is fast but when there is weather it can be spotty or even not work. The power can go out occasionally with bad weather.
In this area of Costa Rica there are no addresses. It's the way of the Jungle! When you arrive you will contact Sagrario and she will meet you at the house. We will arrange these details prior to your visit, make this easy for you and accommodate your schedule.
There are several restaurants in Pavones and Zancudo, all just minutes from the house. Our favorite is Amigos Escondidos. We like Tico Mex. And there are a few small supermarkets in town as well. There are no "gas stations" in town; however, there are a couple of markets who sell gasoline and diesel fuel. Sagrario can give you those details when you arrive.
We suggest you fly into San Jose then fly to Golfito using Sansa airlines.
Best place to rent a car is from Enterprise in Golfito Marina. You could take the bus from Golfito to Pavones and rent a bike or ATV. If you take a bus from Golfito it will be very difficult for you to find a ride to the house. There are no taxis in Pavones but you might be able to catch a ride or walk about 30 min to the house.
Restaurants and groceries are about a 5-10min drive, walking is doable but I wouldn't recommend it as that would be a pretty long walk. They are all located in the town of Pavones and also in the town of Zancudo, which is the opposite direction of Pavones. And there is also a few small markets in both Pavones and Zancudo that have all the essentials to cook at the house. The largest market of them all is located in Pavones.
Tap water is perfectly fine to drink.
Pavones has really big waves. But the beach directly in front of the house is much, much calmer with little to no waves. And when you are in the town of Pavones, there is a huge river mouth that lets into the Pacific right at Pavones point break. And as the river lets in, the water has created itself a big fresh water lagoon that is very calm and safe. You will always finding a handful of children swimming and playing in the water there. And its beautiful, right on the beach, surrounded by Jungle..
