Summary:
This stylish house for five is ideally located in central Cornwall, with easy access to both the north and south coast. Inside, everything has been finished to a high standard and there is a real home away from home feel.
The Space:
The open plan living room is light and bright with lots of homely touches, such as a large velour sofa (also a double sofa bed) with cushions and throws as well as books, plants and prints. It's the perfect spot for a cosy night in and you won't struggle to find something to watch on the Smart TV with apps. The brand new kitchen is well stocked and has everything you need: from an electric hob and oven to a toaster, kettle and cooking utensils. Out back, there is a separate utility space with a fridge and washing machine as well as a downstairs w/c. The house has a spacious yet private garden with views of the distant hills. In summer, enjoy slow breakfasts out in the sun or cook dinners on the BBQ! Upstairs, there are two bedrooms both with king-size beds. Like the rest of the house, the bedrooms have been kitted out with tasteful touches: such as as knitted throws, plants and prints. The walls are crisp and fresh and the carpets brand new. The family bathroom has a bath as well as an overhead waterfall shower. Its convenient location and calming interiors make this a gorgeous base to explore the very best of Cornwall. Dogs welcome with fee of £20/dog (max 2). It is on the condition they are not allowed on the soft furnishings or in the bedrooms.
Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the entire property.
The Neighborhood:
The house is located in Launceston, which is ideally located for exploring the north and south coast of Cornwall as well as Bodmin Moor. In Launceston itself, you will find plenty of shops and supermarkets as well as the Launceston castle and National Trust's Lawrence House. Within a 10 minute drive there is New Mills Farm Park as well as Hidden Valley and Trethorne Leisure Park.
The north coast of Cornwall can be reached in under 30 minutes drive whether it is Crackington Haven, Boscastle or Tintagel. There is an amazing woodland walk from Crackington Haven along the clifftop coastal path as well as from Boscastle to Tintagel. We would also recommend checking out St Nectans Glen Waterfalls, particularly in the autumn and winter months. A little further down the coast, you will find Trebarwith Beach - this is a great spot for sunny days and there is plenty of parking as well as a small café. Polzeath Beach, which is renowned for surfing, can be reached in under an hour. The large beach is lifeguarded in summer and there are ample shops, restaurants and cafes within the local area.
30 minutes south of the house is the Tamar Valley, where you will find lots of walking and cycling routes.
Cycle hire is available from the Tamar Trails and there is a huge selection of options for all abilities and fitness levels. You can cycle from Ilfracombe on the North Coast to Plymouth on the South Coast on Route 27 (Drake’s Trail). The Southern route uses a disused railway track so quiet, safe and reasonably flat!
The house is also within 15 minutes of the edge of Bodmin Moor, where you will find ample activities. Why not try alpaca trekking across the Moor, go visit King Arthur's Hall or the serene Golitha Falls? The edge of Dartmoor is 30 minutes away and also offers plenty of walking opportunities.
South Cornwall's Looe and the Roseland Peninsula can be reached within 35-45 minutes drive. This lovely stretch of Cornwall is often a little quieter in the high season and offers beautiful beaches and pretty fishing towns. We would recommend visiting Portlooe, Polperro and Pendower beach.
Getting Around:
Due to the remote nature of Cornwall, a vehicle is recommended for getting around. There is some limited free parking available near to the house but guests can park outside the cottage between 18:00-09:00, Monday-Saturday, and all day on Sunday. All other times, you can park outside the cottage for 2-hour periods, with a 4-hour break between.
For longer-stay parking, Cattle Market Long Stay Car Park is 4-minutes walk down Race Hill road from the cottage
Other Things to Note:
