Hill Country cabin on 260 acres

Ferruginous Pygmy (Fergy for short) is a tidy open concept single room cabin designed with custom "window walls" at entry and on the back balcony, allowing you to see completely through the cabin to the lovely hills beyond. When you stay at Fergy, you experience a beautiful balance of out and in. Enjoy the cozy and comfy interior and the expansive exterior that epitomizes the Texas Hill Country.

Wake up from a good night's sleep and slide the doors open to watch the sun rise with a warm cup of coffee on the back porch. Step off the shaded front porch around to the deck, which offers outdoor seating, grilling and dining. Adjacent the deck, find a treelined outdoor shower (with hot water) where you can wash off in the private wilderness. (There's really nothing else like it.) In the evening, enjoy a chat by the fireside, resting in style on a large Adirondack chair set in the open air for an expansive experience of the night sky. The stars out here are so bright and plentiful!

Kitchenette with 2-burner induction stovetop, microwave, small fridge, sink, dining ware, knives, cooking utensils, pots, pans, and flatware. Clean bedding on a fresh, firm mattress and new iron queen size bed - super comfy for a good night's sleep. 50 inch Samsung smart TV, with streaming platforms. Air conditioning and heating. Modern free standing roomy and luxurious tub, with high quality shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Tiny enclosed toilet for privacy.

This is truly a unique experience that offers all you really need in a getaway.

Exciting news! We are nearing completion of our second cabin, fondly named “Barn,” which sleeps four and is close enough to book jointly with Fergy and far enough if you are staying solo. We intentionally spaced these two cabins to preserve privacy, yet lend reasonable proximity for those shared stays with friends or family. Please reach out to learn more about the second cabin.

Perfect Secluded Getaway
This cabin was the perfect secluded getaway to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It was a perfect distance for our visits to Lost Maples and Garner State park. It has a beautiful view and I would highly recommend to anyone looking to get away for a weekend.

Perfect stay
We wanted to disconnect from the world from a bit with out the lack of comfort of a modern home, and this place provided everything we needed and more. The venue was exactly as advertised. Incredibly peaceful and offered great sunrise views. The owner helped me so much and answered every single one of my questions and guided me to solutions; even late at night. Highly recommend.

Relaxing getaway
What a great escape from the city! We loved the beautiful sunsets, stargazing, and tranquil scenery. This was a great base of operations for day trips to Lost Maples and Garner, and a perfect way to enjoy nature without all the crowds at the end of the day (and with a luxurious bath to boot!). We would highly recommend!

Peace, quiet, privacy
My wife and I have had a crazy summer and needed some time to rest and enjoy the quiet country. The place is beautiful inside and out and had everything we needed. Sitting on the porch in the morning and watching the sun rise and not hearing cars, dogs, and weed whackers was just what we needed. We went there with no agenda and took naps, and enjoyed a very slow pace. Bonus was the cloudless sky so we were able to see the Milky Way and countless stars Hoping to get back sometime

A Dream!
Me, my husband, and our dog stayed at the Hill Country Cabin for one final getaway before the arrival of our first baby. It was the PERFECT stay for us! The porches are serene, the outdoor shower is amazing, and we loved watching the sunrise/sunset from the floor to ceiling windows each day. The bed was very comfortable and although the place is on the smaller side, every piece of furniture and device is thoughtfully placed to maximize the space. The location is about 20 minutes away from town so be sure to plan ahead for food and drinks. That being said, the views and peacefulness of the property make the drive more than worth it!

Fantastic weekend getaway destination
Overall, this was a great experience. The only issue we had was with my Google maps not being too reliable getting me there. Luckily, a family member had previously stayed there, so once I had cell phone service again (was in a dead zone when I got lost), I was able to get some help. Now I know how to get there, and I wouldn’t hesitate making a reservation again. Highly recommend this place!

A Lovely Weekend
This property was true to the posting and was such a great place to stay. It was truly secluded and we loved that about it. We were able to use the fire pit and enjoyed sitting outside amongst the Hill Country while it was going. The back deck was nice for relaxing and we had fun using the telescope that was at the property. We would love to come back another time!

Getaway from crowds
Brought my best friend and her small dog on a short trip to get away from crowds during Spring Break. We had a great time! There were great views and lots of privacy. Definitely recommend. She loved the outdoor shower. Unfortunately it was cool and cloudy most of the time but I did see some bright stars during a short break in the clouds one night. The stargazing would be amazing there in better weather. The bed was a little too firm, but I expected that because of the property description. So I brought an extra foam pad I had laying around, once it was on the bed it was perfect. The pillows provided were very nice! Several of the nearest restaurants close early or have limited menu during the week, so we bought some stuff to make sandwiches and small meals while there just in case. Overall, it was a great stay 🙂 definitely recommend!

Girls trip
My friend and I just wanted to get away for a quiet hiking and relaxing weekend. It was the perfect location for us and close to Garner and Lost Maples Lark for beautiful hikes. We loved the little town of Leakey for some excellent breakfast tacos at Lala’s and a cold drink and tacos at Gypsy Sally’s. Also loved the coffee at The Drug Store. Excellent trip and stay.

Amazing!
We loved our stay! It’s beautiful, modern, and an efficiently set place. It is secluded but there are areas to eat after a small drive…we found the best mocha frapp from Josh’s Outfitters and delish breakfast tacos from Lala’s Mexican Restaurant….we would do it again in a heartbeat!
