Convenient for rail connections
The hotel is close the Leeuwarden railway station so very convenient if arriving by train. It’s a largish hotel, staff are pleasant and helpful. If staying more than one night they don’t service the room unless you ask. There are lots of restaurants nearby. Breakfast at the hotel is good.

Oranje Hotel Leeuwarden Continues Rich Tradition
The Oranje Hotel across from the train station in Leeuwarden has been welcoming guests for over one- hundred years, as can be seen in the oldest photos/images on a wall in the hotel chronicling the hotel's rich past. Now an Eden property, the Oranje Hotel continues its tradition of comfort and service at a reasonable price. The hotel has an expansive bar and lounge area with a number of quiet and comfortable niches. There is even a reading area with magazines and reading lamps. An ample breakfast is offered daily until 11 AM at a good price. The hotel's rooms are efficiently appointed: my only disappointment, such as it was over two nights, is the lack of English speaking channels on the television. (There is just one, from an unlikely source - French TV - but no CNN or even BBC). There are restaurants directly to the left and right of the hotel, and if you fancy a steak a Loetje's is at hand!

Leeuwarden stopover
Brief stay on Leeuwarden. The hotel is opposite the train station. It’s a good base to explore the city, especially the Friesland Museum and library / arts centre (the old jail). There’s four restaurants close to the hotel. If you wan to venture further then the TOTT is worth a visit. It serves Thai/Asian food. As it’s fairly small then best to book. I visited on a Wednesday and was able to get a table when I arrived. The breakfast at the hotel is very good.
