Explore the diverse duty-free shops in this traditional Alpine village, known for its reliable snow conditions.

Livigno is a high-altitude ski village on the Swiss border. Beginner skiers will enjoy the resort’s gentle, open slopes, while cross-country skiers can take advantage of its long, snow-covered trails. Plan extra time to shop at the duty-free stores in the town’s pedestrianized center and enjoy its buzzing nightlife.

The Livigno Ski Area offers an excellent range of beginner slopes with consistent snow conditions. Hone your skills on one of nearly 30 blue trails or try the more challenging terrain off the Mottolino Gondola. Bring your gear on Thursday evenings to enjoy illuminated night skiing at Lift no. 23.

Take the family to Larix Park to follow five exciting rope courses suspended between the trees. Courses are suitable for both children and adults and feature Nepalese bridges, ropeways and wooden walkways up to 59 feet (18 meters) above the ground.

Spend an afternoon cycling in Mottolino Bike Park at 7,900 feet (2,400 meters) above sea level and accessible via cable car. Ride through 12 different trail areas, enjoying jump drops, wall rides and dishes. The park offers trails suitable for experienced bikers and novices. Explore and have fun on the brand-new "flow trails" of Carosello 3000, designed and created by the famous Hans Rey and Diddie Schneider. This style of riding is based on speed and rhythm, with no unexpected corners or obstacles so that little braking or peddling is needed. Beginners feel safe while expert bikers enjoy a feeling of riding a roller coaster.

Have a workout at Aquagranda Livigno, an exceptional gym equipped with a semi-Olympic swimming pool and Technogym machines. Located at 5,958 feet (1,816 meters), the gym is one of Europe’s highest training spaces.

Discover the town’s pedestrianized center, which spans more than a mile (1.6 kilometers). Stop for a meal in one of the traditional restaurants or bargain hunt in the duty-free shops.

Stroll along Via Crucis Biblica, a walking and cycling trail lined with beautiful religious bas-reliefs. Notice the many pretty churches throughout town. Don’t miss the oldest of the town’s churches, Santa Maria Nascente, which dates back to the 1300s.

Livigno is located in a valley near the Swiss border. To get here, take the train from Milan and connect in Tirano. Airport transfers are also available from the airports in Milan and Innsbruckduring the ski season.

Skiing in Livigno
"This hotel is fine. Next to the slopes . A few steps to get up to the lift . Livigno is good, plenty of scope for skiing . We did half board , but wouldn’t next time . The resort is much cheaper than France. So eating out was cheap . The food in the hotel was fine … but not really to our taste . ..."

Great location and very nice hotel!
"Perfect location right in the heart of the activity. Lots of shops and restaurants at your finger tips. I wish the room had air conditioning and no tea/coffee in the room which would have been nice so only gave 4 stars for that. The room/hotel is fairly old but has been reno'd slightly. Free parking...slightly ..."
