(An Evaporative Cooler lowers the air temperature by passing outdoor air over water soaked pads and then pulling the cooled evaporated air into the home. Evaporative cooling systems can be used effectively in the dry desert air of Mesa County. Operating instructions are included in the home but does require a window or two to be cracked open to allow for circulation. This cooling effect will achieve similar home temperatures as other forms of cooling, however the air may feel more humid and be louder (due to the fan) than refrigerated air units.)

A quality experience
Horse Thief Hideaway is a lovely property close to Colorado National Monument and the McInness Canyon Conservation Area. The kitchen is one of the nicest I've experienced in a vacation rental. The beds were perfect.The private rear yard is perfect for a BBQ.

Cute little house
We rented this property as an impromptu getaway to avoid the neighborhood fireworks that give our dog anxiety. The back yard was perfect for her and the location was very easy to get to. We had some issues with the evaporative cooler the last day of our stay and left early to escape the heat, but that aside, it was nicely appointed. We liked the dog photo album and thought that was a nice touch!

It was so nice to book this great place on such short notice. The house and property was just perfect for our needs. Very clean, comfortable and well equipped right down to bike tools. It was very nicely decorated too. We will book again and also look at the other properties from this company.

This home is adorable. Very nice touches throughout and lovely top grade appliances. Comfy bed and dark out shades most windows. Nice backyard completely fenced with a very nice propane grill. Out dogs loved running and playing out back. Nice deck to eat fresco. Great location.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay. The home was well stocked and met all our needs. Relaxing Fruita getaway!
House was perfect! Stocked with everything we needed to hunker down and relax! Lucy loved the doggie door and the big back yard :-) It was hot (4th of July week), but the house stayed comfortable with the effective whole house cooler. We both slept great on the comfortable king-size bed. Scenic views and interesting activities close by. Did a few day trips and sampled the local fun too! We highly recommend Horsethief Hideaway! Hope we can return soon!

Rural Gem
This is a great place to stay in a rural setting but that is very convenient to town as well. For us, the best part was that it featured a nice, moderately-sized, very secure back yard for our dogs that they could access through the large (for all but giant breeds) doggy door at the back door. The tall, sturdy wood fence was also a deterrent to barking temptation since they couldn’t see out…very private for both us and our furry friends! The house is nicely updated, well-furnished, has good wifi and TVs in both bedrooms as well as the comfy living room. There is also a nice kitchen and separate laundry area. The 2 bedrooms both have separate sitting areas and are located one up and one downstairs which provides privacy too. For a small group that doesn’t need a 2nd bathroom and who are traveling with dogs, this place is ideal! The icing on the cake is the garage that can be used for your vehicle, accessible from the enclosed back yard! We loved this place!!

We loved this adorable place! Clean and newly/completely renovated. It is not mountain biking season quite yet as I am sure the trails are muddy. Perfect place once things open up. We had a great time hiking at Highline State Park, just a few miles north. Great dinner at Cattleman's Bar and Grill about a mile away. Thank you for sharing your home!
