Its very convenient and cheaper to stay than Manhattan but not much in itself. Safe though.
While you're in Hunters Point, take in top sights like MoMA PS1 or Gantry Plaza State Park, and hop on the metro to see more of the city at 21 St. Station or 45 Rd. - Court House Sq. Station.
Blissville might not have many top sights, but MoMA PS1 and Court House Square are two attractions nearby that you can check out.

Offering a welcome break from the lights and buzz of the Manhattan concrete jungle, this park is a much loved spot to rest weary feet, stroll and enjoy a picnic.
An eclectic mix of business and entertainment, this was considered one of Manhattan’s remarkable engineering feats when it was finally completed in the late 1930s.
Probably one of the most famous Statues of modern times, this iconic symbol of freedom, democracy and hope is a national treasure loved by millions worldwide.
One of the world’s most famous arenas, Madison Square Garden is New York’s go-to venue for large-scale performances and sports events.

A lot of construction going on in the general area so it's going to be more up market in the future.
Can be a big grubby in parts, but generally nice and there's enough metro stations to make it convenient to get to Manhattan or elsewhere from most places around LIC.
Subway train and people were friebdly in helping out with train traveling. Supermarket is different.
Did not spend time in Long Island. It was very quiet, with some good convenience stores and fast food outlets. Access to New York was important to us more so than Long Island City itself. The walk across the bridge over the East River was worthwhile.
It's a factory district. There's nothing to do, nowhere to go, and no one on the street. So it was quiet and if you're looking to spend time in Manhattan and then just sleep in the hotel it's good enough.
