My Mom has Dementia with additional symptoms appearing as the Dementia worsens. We planned a 2 day adventure. We drove until dark. Then I booked us a room at Rodeway in, on my phone, through Expedia. The booking had a “no refund” notification. Which I wasn’t concerned about. I had booked the room for that night and it was only 15 minutes away from my location. I drove right to Rodeway Inn. My Mom waited in the car while I checked us in. I pulled up and parked in front of the door to our room. My Mom said, unexpectedly, I’m not going in there. When I asked why she said she didn’t know if the sheets and blankets would be cleaned properly. I tried to explain how the cleaning was done. Also, how inspections were done to be sure that requirements were met. Otherwise, the business would be fined and/or shut down. My Mom was insistent on not sleeping there. She wanted to sleep at home. Which was a 2 hour drive away.
I stopped at the front desk to explain this unusual situation and ask if I could get my money back. The representative said I would need to contact Expedia. So I did. I was being so patient with my Mom. But considering the possibility of no refund was so frustrating. Expedia rep. said I could send an email to the manager or the Expedia Rep. could do it. I asked the rep. to. I drove the 2 hours back home. Expedia sent emails to the manager of Rodeway Inn, who replied that no refund would be given. Under the circumstances this is unreasonable.
