Shenandoah Solitude in the Blue Ridge mountains

Welcome to the enchanting Shenandoah Solitude, a picturesque retreat nestled amidst the majestic peaks and lush forests of the Blue Ridge mountain range.

This cozy and spacious cabin is the perfect destination for your group to experience a rejuvenating escape, where adventure and relaxation harmoniously blend together. While large enough for a group of 8, Shenandoah Solitude is cozy enough to make smaller groups feel warm and comfortable.

The cabin offers 3 private bedrooms, 2 full baths, modern amenities, a paved driveway, a hot tub, and much, much more!

2 king beds, 1 queen bed, and a full-sized sleeper sofa will comfortably sleep 6, and we have additional bedding for a max of 8. The kitchen offers modern fixtures and ample space with an oven, refrigerator, and microwave.

If you'd rather cook outside, we've got you covered with both gas and charcoal grills. While you're out there, you can play a game of horseshoes in the professional horseshoe pit or challenge each other to a game of cornhole (available in the summer months)!

At night, sit with your friends or loved ones in the hot tub while looking out at the lights of the valley or stars above. On rainy days, there is still plenty to do inside. Watch Smart TVs with satellite channels, play board games, read books from the cabin's book library, challenge your friends to a game of foosball, or hang out around the fireplace. There is a landline phone with free local and long-distance calls. A new high-speed Wi-Fi has just been installed. Feel free to stream music or watch movies during your stay!

Enjoy stunning mountain views and sunrises from the covered decks. Soak in the indoor jacuzzi or the large outdoor hot tub! Make a huge campfire and tell stories with your friends late into the evening hours!

PLEASE NOTE: During winter months, a four-wheel drive (4WD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) vehicle is required.

Pets are welcome! 2 dogs maximum. There is a weight limit of 50 lbs or less per dog. No cats allowed, sorry!

A separate security deposit is required for this property. Please feel free to ask us if you have any questions—we are happy to answer them!

Stunning view & cozy home
The location is top notch and the view is breathtaking! The house is small & cozy! We loved the fireplace and the hot tub views were fantastic. Only reason for 4 stars was because there were no oven mitts and the house wasn’t super clean (ie visible dust and dirt). The communication was great and we really enjoyed our stay!

What a View!
Wonderful views! Peaceful, nature surrounded, nicely appointed, clean, comfortable, and super cozy cabin. Easy communication with the property management company. Community road leading to the cabin is unpaved and steep at times so 4x4 highly recommended. Downtown Luray is nearby with a couple of restaurants and a brewery, grocery stores close by, and the entrance to the Shenandoah park is within 10-15 minutes drive! Perfect location.

Beautiful solitude in the mountains
This house was gorgeous! The view was simply amazing. The view of the sunrise in the morning was my favorite. This was absolute solitude in the mountains if that's what you are looking for. Just to make note the drive was a little scary for me and I would not do it if you don't have 4 wheel drive, even if it's not snowing. We have little kids so it was a little concerning for me to be on the side of the mountain like that but it's just as pictured! We def would go back once our kids are a bit older!

Cute cabin in the mountains!
This cabin is super cute and great getaway! The view is really beautiful across to Shenandoah National Park. The rooms look just like the pictures, though it did feel smaller/cozier in person. Also love what they’ve done with the property with different stations and nature trail around the property. The road up to the cabin is gravel so pay attention to the 4wd suggestion - especially when it snows like it did on our trip! Location is nice because it’s just 15 minutes down the mountain to downtown Luray and grocery stores. Communication was super fast and they were flexible when we needed to extend due to a winter storm. Taking one star off because we had some issues with the appliances and there were lots ladybug and stink bugs inside.

The Perfect Romantic Getaway
My wife and I had to cancel some other travel plans we had due to some unexpected time restraints. We had less than a week, but wanted to find somewhere to enjoy a quick getaway... that's when we found Solitude. It checked off all of our boxes: cabin on a mountainside, hot tub, swing, grill, fire pit, view, & charm. This cabin has all of these in spades. There were also all the small & more pragmatic things that made the stay very easy: kitchen gadgets, multiple coffee options, that citronella candle outside, grill tools, etc. We arrived with our 'basics' and found that if we had forgotten anything, the homeowners had thought of it. While this was more a getaway for my wife and I, we have decided we will be bringing back our kiddos with us next time as there was ample space to accommodate everyone between the 3 bedroom--though Mom & Dad get dibs on the loft bedroom with the sunrise view. :) Thank you for the great experience... highly recommend this cabin and we'll be coming back again!

Nice Weekend
We had a really nice time during our stay at Shenandoah Solitude. We were with a group of friends so our plan was to enjoy to property, make delicious meals and hang out. When we arrived the oven didn't work and the stove took ages. We called the caretaker about the stove and she was unable to help us. We were also lucky enough to have snow which was beautiful but created a layer of ice right in front of the front door and there was no salt in the house. Except for those two snafus, the rooms were great and the hottub was amazing. I would definitely return but more likely in the summer when we could enjoy the outdoor space more.

Wonderful escape from the world
My wife and I reserved Shenandoah Solitude after COVID-19 severely disrupted our original honeymoon plans. However, we both agreed that renting this house was a better experience than what we had originally planned! I don't know what our favorite part of this beautiful, lodge style home built into the mountainside was: waking up in the 'clouds' on misty mornings, deer and wildlife sightings, the hot tub, gas fire place, cornhole pit, outdoor firepit... the list goes on. We'll jump at the chance to visit again! One "even better if" is more transparency about hiking opportunities. While national parks are in the area, you have to drive there; i.e. hiking opportunities are not 'walkable' from the house. This is something to consider if you are not driving an AWD vehicle.

Liked: Cleanliness
Cute cozy cabin with an amazing view, close to everything but entirely secluded.
The cabin was beautiful and so cozy. The fireplace is easily turned on and off which makes it something we actually used quite a bit, especially on the one rainy afternoon. The view was amazing and the sunrise over the mountains was unbelievable. Hot tub was perfect. Grilling and cornhole made for a really great day in. Completely secluded but the location was so close to everything we wanted to visit as soon as we left the neighborhood. The only thing we had real issues with was the cleanliness of the bathrooms. I read the reviews and expected some bugs in the jacuzzi tub, we are in the woods with air conditioning units they can sneak in through. So I cleaned the tub out before use and ran the jets. Once I actually got in with soap and hotter water, black specks of mold came out of the jets. Our shower was clogged before any use. That was not an enjoyable part of our experience.

Breathtaking views and a relaxing environment
The grill was stocked with propane, and the fire pit had firewood—snacks and coffee in the kitchen, with soft, comfortable beds. The living room had games, movies, and a selection of TV subscriptions. The kitchen had a fridge, stove, microwave, and all the dishes needed to cook and serve a delicious meal. The above made it so we just needed to bring ourselves and a little food.

Surprisingly clean
I mean I don't wanna make it sound like I expected it to be dirty, but I expected it to be cobwebby and buggy; it's a mountain, not a lab. But you can look at the ceiling beams, the top of the A-frame... spotless. Even the exterior lights. Made me not want to go home and face my own mess.

Perfect
Woukdnt have changed a thing. The cabin was very clearly well taken care of. I loved that everything was labeled (light switches, controls, etc..) the view is what you see in movies and it's so quiet and peaceful. My husband and I go away to a cabin every year for our anniversary and this is by far the best. We normally like to go somewhere different every year but we already decided wed be back to the shenandoah solitude.

Best place we have rented yet
This house was amazing. From the views, the sunrises over Shenandoah National park while enjoying coffee, relaxing in the hottub after a day of hiking, or just sitting by the firepit looking down on the valley or up at the stars while my wife made smores. The kitchen was modern and well equipped. We made breakfast every morning and cooked dinner twice with no issues or struggles. We actually preferred to hang out at the house vs going out. The road to get to it is dirt/gravel and has some steep areas

Shenandoah Solitude- Our Anniversary
I am so happy that after hours of scrolling, searching, reading reviews, we ultimately chose Shenandoah Solitude. Our stay here was absolutely wonderful. We are so happy we picked this place for our 1 year wedding anniversary. The views were amazing and peaceful. The wind-chime on the deck was my personal favorite touch as it provided such a sense of peace and tranquility. It was wonderful waking up to that beautiful view from the loft bedroom. Shenandoah Solitude truly felt like home as soon as we walked in the doors as they provided everything we needed. The only thing we needed to purchase was some food to cook. Our trip to Luray was truly magical and we will for sure be coming back to explore more of its beauty. We are already in the talks of planning a family trip and staying once again at Shenandoah Solitude.
