Relaxing Mountain Get-away, Close To Estes Park & Rocky Mountain National Park

Ruby's Retreat is a two-story mountain home. It is located on one acre of level land, surrounded by trees, native wildflowers and wildlife. We do have neighbors who also have 1-5 acres of land, with one next door neighbor who helps with the managing and maintaining the property and assisting guests when needed. The interior is furnished in a western, rustic, mountain décor theme, with lodge-pole furniture. A queen size bed is in the master bedroom. Twin beds are in the upstairs, finished loft. A queen size sleeper sofa is in the great room, which has a cathedral ceiling with exposed beams. A propane fireplace and recliner chair are also in the Great Room. It has a fully furnished kitchen, with stove, oven, frig, microwave, pots and pans, coffee maker, crock pot and blender. The one bathroom is located on the main floor. Fresh linens and towels are provided. Outside, the back deck provides mountain views; a patio table and four chairs and a two-seat glider. The back deck also has a propane grill for your use. The covered front porch provides additional mountain views, enjoyed from a porch swing. There is internet connection at this location. A land-line phone is available. Depending on your provider, there is limited cell phone reception at this mountain location.

Family RMNP Vacation
The cabin was perfect for our family! It was so close to the RMNP Wild Basin entrance which let us get a great early morning start for our hikes! It was also close to Estes Park and the bear lake entrance that we went in several times. We frequented the Crystal Spring in Allenspark and there was a little store for any forgotten necessities right there as well. The cabin was super clean and the kids loved the loft area which was perfect for them! Definitely recommend this cabin for families (or anyone) looking for a home base for RMNP adventures!

Great cabin for a getaway
Great cabin for a Colorado vacation to Rocky Mountain National park. Was close to the park while being able to be a way from the crowds of Estes Park. Would highly recommend staying here.

Old school but good value
So pros: amazingly quiet , serene and naturally pretty location; everything was very clean ; decor was old school but quite charming in its own way- takes you back to simpler times ; Cons: no air conditioning and even with the windows wide open , the bedrooms ( both master and loft ) were very warm and stuffy several of the days we stayed ( we did find A small fan in the bedroom closet after a few days but it was not very strong or helpful ; also no washing machine or dishwasher , had to haul our own trash most days ( one day a guy came by to get it but we had already had to rage care of it on our own by then ) and the shower and kitchen sink had super low water pressure -so housework took longer than when I’m not on vacation…. however for the price ( lower than most competitors) , all in all, a good value and a pleasant stay ;

Great location. Bad phone service and a little rough with 1 bathroom but both of those issues we had been aware of. Strategic planning put to the test😁.

Fantastic stay!
My family had a fantastic stay! The property was a great location if you want to explore both RMNP and the national forest. It was nice to be out of the business of Estes park. The house exceeded expectations. I feel like it was even larger than pictures made it look. My daughter (3) loved it! The toys In the upstairs loft were a nice touch. We would definitely stay there again!

Very pleasant stay
We chose to stay in Allenspark to avoid the crowds and hassles of Estes Park, but still be close to RMNP. We were very happy with our decision and this cabin was a major reason. It was extremely clean and comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped and stocked with some basics. Ie. salt, pepper, coffee, tea, napkins, etc. The location was good, neighborhood was quite. Front porch swing was perfect for relaxing. And if you want to hike, travel a half mile up the road and you are in Roosevelt National Forest with some scenic hiking trails.

Perfection
This was my third stay, and it will not be my last. The cabin is cozy and it's situated in the perfect area. It is close enough to bigger towns with shops, etc. but it's also far enough away from the higher traffic tourist areas to feel like you are truly tucked away in your own, secluded mountain oasis. Ted is a wonderful host who has always been available if needed for any questions that may come up.

Great Mountain House
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at Ruby's Retreat! The location was great, we liked being close to Estes Park while still being far enough to avoid the traffic and crowd in town. We also liked the quick access to both the National Park and National Forest up the road. The house was clean, looked like the pictures and the owner was very responsive to questions that I had prior to the trip. My kids enjoyed the toys and watching movies on the VCR. They have started talking about our next vacation to the mountains and want to stay here again!

We have to clean dishes, remove full trash bags, changed bed linens, towels, sheets from previous renters. Other than that it's a great quiet peaceful cabin in the woods without distractions.

Great family cabin
The cabin is clean, cute and comfortable with all the necessities. It is located outside the busyness of Estes Park but close to many of the trailheads (Wild Basin, Longs Peake etc.) it was a great place to relax after hiking! The host is helpful and great at communicating. This was our second stay. We love it here! maybe one day we will come back.

Great Stay, great cabin, great experience!
We loved this cabin. The description and photos accurately depicted what we were getting. The property was very clean and provided all basic necessities for our stay. We had no cell service or internet access, just as we expected and wanted! The location was perfect. We were close enough to all the places we wanted to see and explore without being in the hustle and bustle of town. The property owner went above and beyond to contact us when a wildfire popped up in the general location of the cabin. He made sure that we were aware of the situation and was clear that our safety was his top priority. He was willing to do what was necessary to ensure our safety and peace of mind.

Great cabin near National Park trail heads
This cabin was located in a quiet area away from the busyness of Estes Park, but near trail heads. Very minimal traffic. We grabbed groceries on our way up at Walmart in Longmont and the cabin had everything else we needed. We really enjoyed having a comfortable place to come back to to make meals and rest after hiking! The owner was helpful and quick to respond to any questions. We would definitely consider coming back if in the area again!

A Blast from the Past family cabin!
Our family enjoyed staying at Ruby’s Retreat. Our 3 boys range in ages from 5-13 and they ALL enjoyed playing with the “vintage” toys found throughout the loft (battles with the cowboy and Indian plastic figurines provided hours of entertainment)! It was also a lot of fun for my husband and I to teach our kids all about VHS tapes and how to use a VCR. Every night we chose a classic VHS movie to watch together as a family. The older boys also taught their 5 year old brother to play Monopoly junior— finally a game all 3 could play together! The cabin is a beautiful 30 minute drive to Estes Park where we also enjoyed the beauty of RMNP. The cabin was well stocked with everything we needed. We even found a hummingbird feeder that we filled with sugar water to watch the hummingbirds on the porch! Probably our only “complaint” is that it wasn’t clear to us what to do with full trash cans— only instructions to NOT put trash outside and attract bears. There were also a few kitchen items that didn’t work and should be removed (like a food processor that leaked everywhere while in use). But those were only minor inconveniences that didn’t change our satisfaction level. Finally, the owner Ted was very helpful and considerate. He answered all of my planning questions quickly and even followed up on his own to let me know about the timed entry procedures at RMNP. Thank you, Ted!

Peaceful family vacation
We had a wonderful time at Ruby's retreat. We all enjoyed looking at the books of birds and flowers. The cabin had everything we needed and the lack of technology was at the top of our needs list. We really enjoyed being unplugged and reconnecting with each other. The drive to Estes Park and RMNP was not bad at all time wise and the views along the way made it easy and enjoyable.

Great Cabin
This was a great place to stay with our family. Plenty of space for everybody. Close enough to Estes, I'd say about a 25 min drive. Also the same drive to Lyons. We mostly did a lot of hiking in the area which was nice to have a bunch of different trails and places to stop along the way to either town. Our only issue with the cabin was that there was a lot of moths coming in at night and even during the day. We even brought some home with us! Not a huge deal, considering we were out in the mountains, but if you have an issue with bugs, or your children do, like mine, it was a bit of an annoyance. Overall, I would stay here again, no questions asked!

Perfect place for our family get together
The cabin worked out great for us... not far off the highway, and yet just back in enough to be away from any traffic noise and feel close to the forest. The national forest access just up the road was great with wildflowers everywhere. Ted and Ian were responsive to our needs, and the well equipped cabin were perfect for us. Our kids had as much fun with the 70's/80's toys as they did exploring the nearby forest. Thanks for a great stay.
