Big Water Lodge is the perfect gateway to your Lake Gaston experience! As soon as you enter the home, you are greeted with bright, wide open spaces large enough for multiple families or groups to gather and enjoy! Immediately, you will be drawn to the ever-present, majestic main lake views! Slightly above the water line for grand sweeping views from observation areas, kitchen, main living and expansive deck areas and yet you're just a few short steps to the water. The massive party deck over the double boathouse is perfect for sunbathing, card or game play or just relaxing with a cool drink! Because this is main lake, you have a front row seat to swimming, kayaking (5 provided and don't forget to ask about moonlight kayak tours in season!), boating, tubing, etc. Others around the lake will have no problem finding you for an evening get together with friends. The kitchen is large enough to accommodate several bustling cooks without feeling crowded and includes multiple prep areas, sinks and ample counter space. The lakeside master suite showcases panoramic views of the water. Groups of kids can be separated into either of two bunk rooms, making this a perfect location for multiple families. Small children can be easily supervised away from the water at the play gym in the large grassy play area in the front yard. Adults will appreciate that even with a large group, the sleeping and common spaces allow for a feeling of privacy and discretion. Two office areas provide a quiet space for working vacations. Parking is never an issue with a large concrete pad and don't worry about dusty gravel roads, as we are paved all the way from your doorstep to ours! All of our guests are invited to use one of the 5 kayaks provided for exploring the nearby coves or participating in one of the small group outings lead by the local Lake Gaston Outfitters. We do provide a limited supply of life jackets with the kayaks. However, you may want to bring your own life jackets to ensure that "just right" fit for everyone (especially small children!). You are in a prime location on the South side of the lake. Guests coming from the North or South using the I85 corridor will be pleasantly surprised by the accessibility from major metro areas. By water you are just a few minutes to the Eatons Ferry Bridge and the local waterfront restaurants. The local Food Lion in Norlina, NC is only about 20 minutes away as is the other Food Lion at the Eatons Ferry Bridge in Littleton.
If there is a special need you have -- please ask! We are here to assist you in having the time of your life! :)
You'll find the home fully stocked with utensils, pots, pans and about 80% of what most people need. If you need a specialty utensil or tool it might be best to bring it to avoid any hiccups to meal preparation. The management staff can assist with any special requests and is always available to help with whatever you need!
The bathrooms are stocked with courtesy soaps and shampoos designed for quick "off the shelf" use. Each bathroom has a roll of septic-friendly toilet tissue as a starter. Some use more, some use less. You are encouraged to bring whatever you feel you might need beyond the courtesy roll provided.
A few more tid-bits... :)
1. Trained service animals are welcome! Otherwise we have a strict no pets policy. We can help arrange lodging for your pets at a local shelter during your stay if you'd like; just give us a call!
2. The house, like 99% of all lake homes, uses a septic system. This system is a finely balanced biological system. Please help us keep it working flawlessly by flushing only toilet paper. Renters are responsible for any damage caused by misuse.
3. Bow-Riders and deep draft Wake Board boats need to check their Hummingbirds to ensure adequate depth in all coves. Pontoons should have no issues and everyone is welcome to tie off at the dock with rental boats. (make sure to bring your bumpers!)
