Stunningly beautiful Villa with Wide Private Beach

Looking for that special vacation villa with all the ingredients for the ideal Caribbean holiday, away from it all? Then choose Villa Casona Palms. It is one of Costa Maya's most sought-after secluded luxury properties with its private beach and all rooms facing the sea.
Enter the main house and step into the open great room that has all-round wooden latticed windows. You gaze immediately onto the palm beach and ocean and feel the cool breezes. Then step through double doors out onto an enormous covered terrace where you can dine or simply relax facing the ocean. Or, take a few steps to the covered BBQ area to cook the day’s catch ... and have a siesta in a hammock afterwards!
The villa has been beautifully furnished and decorated, striking a wonderful balance between rustic charm and modern eco-elegance. The master bedroom and guest casita (third bedroom) have king size beds, and there are two full size beds in the second bedroom. Each bedroom has its own balcony overlooking the ocean.

The villa is fully self-contained and services (cleaning, linens, bottled water, electricity, propane gas, internet, use of kayaks, etc.) are included in the rental rate.
The remote property has an exceptionally wide beach front (55 metres, 183 feet), lined with mature coconut -bearing palm trees. It offers great views and seclusion. The sea in front, protected by the coral reef 500 yards offshore, is always calm, affording safe swimming for all ages. You can swim out to the reef and snorkel and, if you are into scuba-diving, there are several dive centres in the nearby village of Mahahual. Be sure to research Sargassum seaweed before planning a trip to the Caribbean.
Mahahual has a number of restaurants and souvenir shops, particularly busy on cruise-ship days, after which you might want to retire to your bit of tranquil paradise. This is a complete home that can be rented either as a 2-bedroom villa for 4-6 persons (of which 2 children on convertible couches), or with an additional double-bedroom casita that can sleep 2 additional adults. Be sure to view all the photos – they’ll give you a true impression of this idyllic property.

Wonderful, remote property
We had a great stay at Casona Palms. The house is beautiful and the owner and caretakers very attentive and helpful. If you are looking for a remote, comfortable ocean vacation, this is a good fit. The owner connected us with a great fishing guide for a day and we had a wonderful time kayaking out to the spot reef just off shore and snorkeling. We spent many hours on the shaded back porch just enjoying the ocean view. I would advise any traveler to this area to research sargasso before coming. It is a real issue across the entire region, and this property is not immune. We had several days where the sargasso was thick enough that it was unpleasant to swim or be by the water. The caretaker works hard to clear it as is washes ashore, and you can always take out a kayak or head to Mahahual or other attractions, but it did impact our beach experience for about 1/3 of our visit. Finally, after 3-4 days, the wind shifted and it all washed away. That aside, our overall experience at the house and in the area as a whole was very positive. It's an incredibly relaxing place to spend a vacation.

Enjoyed every minute
This is a great place to stay, away from everything! We enjoyed relaxing, kayaking and star gazing! The wifi was a bit spotty but that gave us a chance to do other interesting things. The road to the house is quite beaten, in the last 20 minute stretch, but once we arrived it was great to be away from everything! Take plenty of groceries, as Mahahual is 45 mins away, we did this a couple of times and got to see nice places there to eat, scuba dive, etc! Rosa and Israel are lovely people who will take care of anything you need. Their dogs Oso and Arena, and their cat Luna are extremely cute and friendly, and add to thecolour of this place!

Stunning View!
This property is absolutely amazing! The main home & guest villa were perfect for our family! Michael was a great host, and Rosa & Israel (the on-site caretakers) were extremely helpful and very kind!! Nature is in abundance here… shells everywhere, iguanas in the trees, hermit crabs galore, and of course the dogs (on site and neighboring) that visit daily with tails wagging! Although there isn’t a TV, there definitely isn’t a lack of things to do… swimming, kayaking, volleyball, beach BBQ… the list goes on. Tips for other travelers: the WiFi is spotty at times so keep that in mind for devices that don’t have a hard wire port), there is no tv (but who needs one in paradise), and, this home really is about 45 min from the nearest store. Make sure you get groceries in a BIG town or city prior to arrival; you can get little stuff you run out of at the mom & pop stores in town (again, these stores are about 45 min away). We would definitely stay here again, and are looking forward to another trip!

Beautiful oasis
Michael's property is beautiful and unique; we loved the private beach, the sea breezes blowing through the house and the Caribbean decor. The caretakers were discreet but helpful; they caught fish for us that we grilled outdoors, and made us coconut water from the coconuts on the palm trees on the beach. Michael was prompt and clear in his communication; we especially appreciated the precise driving directions, since our GPS steered us onto the wrong road. We did not leave the property at all for the length of our stay, and thoroughly enjoyed our time of relaxation and family time. Thank you, Michael!

Best vacation ever
This vacation was just what we needed. Israel and Rosa met us at the car when we arrived and were there anytime we needed them. The house was beautiful!! We enjoyed our evenings on the porch or in the hammocks. There was a good bit of sargasso while we were there but it wasn’t a detourant at all; it was very easy to navigate past. Israel and Rosa did a great job keeping the beach clean. It was hot while we were there but we knew that going in. It was a fabulous vacation and we will return. Thanks for sharing your home with us Michael; it is truly paradise.

Perfection
We stayed at this beautiful property for 2 weeks in May 2019. The house is spacious and beautiful and the location is secluded and peaceful. The caretakers, Israel and Rosa, are kind and helpful. We felt safe and secure and well taken care of. We are dog people and enjoyed getting to know Bruno, Tammy, and the little puppy Oso. There are other sweet neighborhood dogs around also. We spent our days relaxing in the hammocks, taking the kayaks out, snorkeling, and exploring the beach and surrounding areas. This was not our first trip to this area, but it was our first time staying north of Mahahual. We liked being close to Sian Ka'an and exploring up there. We did a tour with Mahahual Ecotours and also went to Lake Bacalar for a day. Unfortunately, the sargasso was affecting the beaches up and down the coast, so we hope to come back and have better luck with a little bit more sand, and a little less seaweed next year. Israel and others worked tirelessly to clear our beach, but it was pretty unrelenting while we were there. We had a fabulous time and came back to the states relaxed and rejuvenated! And planning our next trip to Casona Palms! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home and piece of paradise.

It’s a beautiful place and Michael was incredible to work with, very attentive and accommodating.
My main issue with this property was it’s location and the time it took to get there from the Cancun airport. It’s an exhausting trip, even though we stayed over night in Tulum and made it an extra day of drive. I had a family emergency and had to leave after 48 hours on the property. After flights could be arranged, we were on the property for a total of 3 days. Not enough time to really sink into the experience. But the views are idyllic, the wind and seaweed unrelenting. The care takers were lovely and hard workers in daily trying to remove the accumulating seaweed from the beach. The seaweed seemed to let up a bit on the day we left. I hope so for the next family. The water shoes are a necessity as the sea floor has some sort of eco system you have to step through. It’s bumpy and rough and not a smooth sandy bottom. Maybe that clears up too. Don’t know about that. My first night there I almost hate to mention this but I’m found two scorpions, one big and one little one in the kitchen. They are very active at night there and you can see their new tracks in the sand all around the house each morning. Michael assured us they were no more dangerous than a wasp sting. All in all it was a very interesting vacation and quite an adventure, one I don’t think we’ll repeat anytime soon. I think its more for younger folks and families, not for us old farts.

Tasteful simplicity off the beaten path
Three of us stayed at the lovely home of Casona Palms the last week of March, 2019. This house is truly a gem. The high ceilings and window designs help with perfect air flow and keeping the house cool. We loved the polished concrete floors and counter tops – simple, yet tasteful. The kitchen was perfect with all the cooking utensils we needed and I loved that there were 2 giant sized cutting boards available since we cooked most of our meals. We enjoyed our time in the hammocks, grilling under the palapa, relaxing on the veranda and playing bocce on the beach. We fished, snorkeled and kayaked in front of the house and took adventures north and south of the house in search of bonefish and permit. The caretakers, Israel and Rosa were very delightful and helpful and did everything with a smile. Google Translate helped us with the language barrier and we learned a lot from them. We also loved the beach dogs' company! This house was very clean and was not lacking. We loved the surrounding area and the fishing was off the charts! We are looking forward to a return trip in the near future.

A secluded jem
We really can't say enough positive things! It was better than is displayed! The house is beautifully designed to meet all of your needs. The sea is just steps away and in my opinion boasts one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We loved the secluded nature of this home. We enjoyed the kayaks, massages (which we had on our balcony overlooking the sea!), the hammocks and swimming everyday. Make sure to bring your snorkeling gear to enjoy that fun activity . The caretakers are super friendly and attentive--they made us feel safe and totally cared for. Michael (the owner) was very responsive to all of our questions and gave very detailed instructions on pre-arrival details. Thank you so much for a truly memorable vacation!

Fantastic Vacation
My family had a wonderful time at Casona Palms. We spent hours every day cruising the water in front of the Villa in our snorkel gear. There are two reefs about half way out to the waves that can be hard to find if you don't know where to look, but after we found them, we were able to keep going back. The caretakers were waiting to take care of anything we needed but stayed comfortably out of sight. The guest book provided by Michael was extremely helpful and full of useful information. Research Sargassum seaweed before planning a trip to the Caribbean. The property is very remote and no other tourists around. Just a handful of vehicles on the dirt road behind the house per day. We were a little apprehensive about safety, but our fears were totally ungrounded. Everyone was very friendly. The drive from Cancun is very long and at first a little intimidating, but after you get used to the "rules of the road", it is smooth sailing. Well worth it to get away from the tourist areas. Thank you Michael for making such a fabulous property available to us poor folk who live in snow country!! A+++

Architectural and Natural Beauty in a superbly private location
If you're looking for a Mexican Beach house away from tourist areas and in a beautiful, natural setting with ultimate privacy, you couldn't ask for a better place than Villa Casona Palms in southern Quintano Roo. Every detail of the house is perfect and architecturally interesting, with attention to comfort and luxury throughout (we were a party of 4 adults). The sounds you hear are mostly birdsongs and breezes, the views dominated by blue skies, magnificent palms and pelicans diving for fish. Nighttime skies are brilliant with stars and moonlight. We especially enjoyed using the kayaks on site and the lounging chairs on the veranda, which is always shaded. Note that it's necessary to bring an adequate stock of groceries because Mahahual, the nearest town is about 25 minutes away. The only flaw is a problem that the whole Caribbean is experiencing: the invasion of seaweed (sargasso) along the coast. Sadly, only the big resorts have the resources to keep their beachfronts free of the stuff. So, ironically, one must trade privacy for white sand and deep water. If you're a serious swimmer, a private home on the Caribbean may not be ideal. But if you're looking for a beautiful home in a remote location with lots of privacy, we believe you can't do better than Villa Casona Palms.

A beautiful house in paradise
What a wonderful house! Our 3 week stay was magical - a perfect secluded Mexican getaway in paradise. The house is incredibly comfortable and well equipped and the caretakers were gracious and very helpful, even shopping for groceries whenever we needed something. It is rather remote, but if you are looking for a private, quiet, beautiful beach house, this is an excellent choice!

Far Away Relaxation and Beauty
Sometimes to experience the world in a totally different way than the majority, you have to make a voyage from the familiar into far away places where few have ventured or even dared. We did this and learned so much about ourselves and others in this awesome home by the sea. Myself, my wife, daughter and son-in-law stayed here for a week in May of 2018 and thoroughly enjoyed it. Words don't do the bedroom view and evening breeze justice. We kayaked 500 yards off the property to find a reef full of fish life. On the way we witnessed barracuda schooling fish and saw sting rays swimming between us and leaping from the sea. No need to go into town for snorkeling, its right out your front (or back) door. We stayed up until wee hours star gazing - absolutely amazing (download the star app). I'd pay a thousand dollars right now to be sunk into the hammock as the sun goes down drinking a beer. Take a walk down the road and introduce yourselves to the neighbors - some lack money but are far from poor. These people are friendly and trusting and eager to try and speak with you. The housekeepers, Marisela and Jorge are endearing and friendly. Jorge paddled out to the reef with me and we snorkeled. He made an awesome drink for us with coconut and tequila that was muy bueno. Marisela cooked fish and lobster for us - US$25 fed 4 of us. How's that for saving a buck or two? Two of us went fly fishing (hunting really) (Nick Denbow) for Tarpon in the lagoon 5 minutes away and had an outstanding time, even though I lost a goliath tarpon after a spectacular jump. We fly fished from the kayak just off the property. Please ask Michael for my contact info if you would like some tips - I'd be glad to help. Follow Michael's suggestions for directions and buying food and other stuff. Mahahual is a fun little day trip 20 minutes down the road, but plan on wanting to stay here the rest of the time. Be wary of the "cruise ship menu" - convert to pesos and use the Mexican menu, you pay less - do the math. Your stay is going to make you have the worst vacation blues you ever had.

Paradise
Where to start... secluded, clean, safe, just perfect! We traveled with 6 teenagers raging in ages from 13 to 18. We thought we would have to book activities to keep them busy since the property is off the beaten path. Well neither one of them wanted to leave, ever. When ever we decided not to use the amazing grill and wanted to head to town, they put up a fight. If this isn't a compliment I am not sure what is. They loved the beach, the kayaks, the volleyball net, the house, the board games. We the parents, loved the tranquility, the clean and ample accommodations. Everything we needed was there and then some. This home allowed us to make memories that will last a life time, we will be returning. Thank you!
