The property is quite run down. My room bathroom shelf is old. The lift is overcrowded that I have to wait for 10 minutes at peak period. The security officer does not seem to know the basic SOP on key lost and found.y key was dropped at level 15. A search was made to my room and the key was not found. I told the security to check with their counter to see if anyone had returned the key. Instead he checked his mobile that the room status is occupying (not check out). He did not follow our instruction to check with the counter. I was told to pay the lost key instead. I went to the check out counter to check if anyone returned the room 1547 key. The counter staff acknowledged that the key was returned. If only the security followed my instructions and not required me to pay, it would have saved the hassles of following through the lost key process. More room for improvement for Hatten Hotel.

Hotel lacked room amenities like a variety of beverages. For example there were only 2 packets of coffee and tea bags provided. Bottled water in the room appears to be old with condensation inside the bottle. Toilet paper holder was wobbly. The wood and paint at the toilet door jam was peeling. However, room was clean and staff were very friendly.

Generally a nice hotel, Natasja was very polite, informative at reception. We had a deluxe suite, which was not much bigger than a standard room. We had a sea view on the 19th floor, but the sea was quite a distance away and the view was an abandoned building beyond the hospital. In the room it was clean, complimentary drinks in the mini fridge, good powerful shower, toiletries, air con was average, we stayed 48’hours and could not get the temperature below 24. Bed was very comfortable. Outside the room, plenty of lofts, dining was a slight variation each day, typical hotel buffet food. There were a few small eateries on the ground floor and a 7/11. A little further is a deserted shopping mall, with few shops, but you can walk to Jonker Street in 10 minutes. Car parking was advertised as free but was actually 5 ringgit per 24 hours, but secure. Overall good for the price, I can’t say there seemed ti be anything substantially better around.

Very convenient location. Next to two malls. Staff was polite. Cons: 1. Check-in experience was terrible. No express queue, for those who checked in before 3pm, to collect their keys after 3pm. Had to queue and wait with the crowd. Either the earlier staff did not key in the system, or the staff did not read, had to repeat my room request. 2. Assigned room had a pungent urine smell, thus called to request to change room. Waited for 30min and no one called back. Luggage was not delivered in this 30min window too. Had to go back down to front desk and asked for room change. 3. Housekeeping forgot to replace the towels. Called to request, along with ice for drinks. Waited 45min for the towels to arrive, which probably would have been longer had I not intercept the staff who happened to deliver to next room. Waited another 15min for the ice. Total waiting time of 1 hour to fulfil request. 4. Soundproofing is bad. Add in occupants who were shouting in the corridor and spamming room bells. On the bright side, it aided my interception of staff (see #3), even though I was way inside the room watching tv. 5. No light indicator of lift arrival. One must simply monitor 8 lift panels and hopefully you capture the sound.
