Enchanted Forest featuring forest scenes and heritage elements
Enchanted Forest showing forest scenes
Embrace the great outdoors for a thrilling array of gentle and active pursuits in a settlement surrounded by spectacular British Columbia scenery.

Malakwa is alive with year-round outdoor adventures. The village lies in the Eagle Valley and has a diverse landscape of forests, mountains, glaciers, lakes and waterfalls on its doorstep. Go snowmobiling on groomed mountain trails, hike to sub-alpine lakes and enter an enchanted forest filled with fairytale characters.

There is no shortage of ways to experience Malakwa's great outdoors. Go hiking or biking through the old growth cedar and hemlock forests on the Eagle River Nature Trails. Take a boat out to Copper Island when visiting Shuswap Lake Provincial Park. Hike the short Cummins Lake Trail that leads to a remote sub-alpine lake.

See more of the area’s impressive scenery at Mount Griffin Provincial Park and Yard Creek Provincial Park. Stroll across the Malakwa Suspension Bridge which spans the Eagle River. This swinging footbridge was originally built by farmers in 1915.

Head into the mountains during the winter for lots of snow-based adventures. About a 10-minute drive from Malakwa is Sicamous and its groomed sledding and snowmobiling areas on four mountains. Find downhill skiing action at Revelstoke Mountain Resort on Mount MacKenzie.

Malakwa has a lot going on for families in addition to the snow and natural parks. Visit the Enchanted Forest, an old growth forest filled with handcrafted fairytale figurines and a huge multistory treehouse. The attraction also features an interpretative nature walk. Next door is the SkyTrek Adventure Park, which offers a range of exciting activities among the trees for people of all ages. There’s zip-line adventures, aerial trekking courses and a giant swing.

Another attraction to put on your travel itinerary is the D Dutchmen Dairy. Tour its milking parlor, cheese-making plant and mini zoo featuring llamas, donkeys and exotic birds.

To enjoy Malakwa's spectacular natural beauty, outdoor pursuits and fun activities, fly into Kelowna International Airport. At approximately 83 miles (133.5 kilometers) away this is the closest major airport. Other ways into the area are by private car or Greyhound bus.
