Deep in the mountains, enjoy freshly groomed snow every day in Malbun. Head to the chairlifts and shoot back down the slopes or practice your tricks at the snowboard park.
With its 14 miles (23 kilometers) of slopes and trails and five lifts, Malbun is especially attractive because most spots to visit are just a short walk away from everything else. The majority of the slopes are ideal for intermediate skiers and snowboarders. Beginners and advanced skiers will find plenty of options as well.
Leave the village and hop on the Hochegg lift to access a variety of red-graded trails. Join the Vaduzer Täli Valley Trail or head toward the far end of the village where numerous runs will allow you to explore the mountainside. Visit the ski school that offers rental equipment as well as lessons for all ages and abilities.
The Sareis chairlift will transport you to an elevation of 6,550 feet (2,000 meters) with spectacular views. Bask in the sun and look north to the colossal peaks of Stachlerkopf and Drei Kapuziner in the distance. Treat yourself to a hot cheese fondue at the mountain-top restaurant or begin the descent back toward town. Take your pick of scenic, gentle trails or weave through trees on steep forest paths.
Beginners will be delighted to find shorter surface lifts near the village entrance while those looking for more excitement should try the terrain park’s selection of jumps and rails with challenges for all abilities. The village is very quiet in summer although the mountains do offer hiking and mountain biking.
Malbun is in southern Lichtenstein, a 20-minute drive southeast from Vaduz. Select accommodations from a few small hotels and a number of private chalets.
