Willowtail Springs is nestled on 60 gorgeous acres of diverse and spectacular landscape.
Three charming cabins, the Bungalow, the Lakehouse an the Garden Cottage are available for rent individually, or together, for a larger group. A separate Working Studio for creating visual art and another studio in the Treehouse are available for meetings, classes, exhibitions, concerts and demonstrations. The Working Studio can be added to any retreat or rental.
All these buildings are surrounded by old forests, meadows, a private lake, with boats and fishing available for guests. Two streams and extensive lush gardens, combining native and non native, perennial plants. Water features and sculpture, most of it for sale, add interest and excitement in the summer. Birds of many varieties live permanently or come through seasonally.
Guests are always welcome to wander in the gardens or the rest of the 60 acres.
Step into the Bungalow a magical, enchanted and light filled space. Artwork, antiques, cherry floors and unique architectural details create a sense of wonder. A large, gorgeous, reclaimed stained glass and carved wood church window greets you at the entry to the bath and bedroom. The pillowtop queen bed invites sleeping in, while the claw foot tub and hand held shower with spa products ensure a luxurious and relaxing bath. Bathrobes are provided for your use in the Bungalow or to wear to the hot tub overlooking the lake.
The open living area features huge windows that look out over the private lake and La Plata mountains. An extensive library of books and movies, along with a TV and comfortable seating invite you to relax. Games and puzzles hide in drawers as do extra matts and napkins. There is also a daybed which makes into a king or two twins, a perfect place to read, watch double rainbows and limitless stairs.
Eat breakfast or any other meals on private decks with lake view or at the spectacular dining room table overlooking the lake. Snuggle in front of the gas fireplace in winter with hot chocolate or mulled wine. Cook dinner and eat in the privacy of your own cabin inside or out. Use the gas oven inside or the grill next to your cabin. Sit under ancient juniper and pinion pine looking out to extensive, lush gardens and the lake. You will soon be transported to another level of rejuvenation in this special retreat.
Recently we added Sculpture to the Willowtail Springs Gardens, which were already exquisite. We have chosen sculptors who are local or national and present a various variety of styles and prices. All are for sale.
Enjoy the canoes or the kayak and fishing gear if you like to fish. The lake is full of large-mouth bass, rainbow trout, brown trout and blue-gills to catch and release. There is no license required since it is a private lake. If fishing isn't your thing, canoe out on the lake and dream as you look down and dangle your fingers in the water.
Hiking on the property is a very popular activity for most guests as is sitting in the cabin, on the deck, in the gardens reading
