tl;dr great front desk, but lots of problems
The good:
--front desk was SUPER friendly and helpful: I left my keys behind, but the gentleman behind the desk was kind enough to retrieve them so I can pick them up and make it back to the airport in time
--housekeeping came every day
--bikes for guest use
The bad:
--inconsistent/non-existent hot water (so much so that we had to switch rooms... but that scarcely helped the issue): it was cold to lukewarm the first few days, scalding hot the next and lukewarm the rest of the trip
--malfunctioning laundry equipment (even after maintenance was called, the washer failed to spin and, after two hours, we gave up on the dryer: our clothes are now drying on the patio)
--poorly-staffed restaurant: the staff was doing their very best, but they were so overwhelmed that orders came out incomplete and/or completely inaccurate... which leads to another issue:
--language barrier: the staff was friendly but, aside from the front desk and coffee bar, few spoke English: it made communication about issues (like the problems we had with hot water, broken appliances, restaurant orders) very difficult. Nice people, especially at the restaurant, but we only visited once: the server was kind but could not understand basic English and our orders were way off. Had to send things back twice. I encountered more English-speaking staff in Mexico and Honduras than I did here in Florida
--very slow wifi
Despite the good folks up front, we had many issues.
