One of the hippest new destinations in Dusseldorf is the old harbour, resplendently reborn as a fashionable waterside playground. For a truly breathtaking overview of the harbour and the mighty river that is still one of Germany’s most important transport arteries, take a ride to the observation deck at the top of the Rhine Tower, which features the world’s largest decimal clock depicted as a light sculpture on its shaft, as well as a revolving restaurant. The observation deck is open from early morning until late at night, when the views of the city lights are particularly impressive.

The revamped harbour offers a wide choice of dining options, from elegant Michelin-starred restaurants to cosy bistros.
