Markin Glen County Park is one of the highest vantage points in the city. From here, take great panoramic photos. The park has several paths for hiking surrounded by flowers and trees. You can also go camping, swimming and fishing at the lake. Let the youngest members of the family have fun at the playgrounds.
Enjoy some of the park’s many features, including 160 acres (65 hectares) of land with a great variety of flowers and a beech maple forest. Play tennis, softball and volleyball. Go hiking on the trails and discover the 1-mile (1.6-kilometer) multi-use paved track.
Have lunch at the picnic areas or pay a fee to use the large shelters provided. With electricity, water, grills and restrooms, they are excellent for large family or team gatherings. The park also has two fishing piers and a swimming beach with handicap access that goes right into the water.
Explore the Maple Hill Trail, a mountain bike route located in the western part of the park. Ride along a well-signed track with fun features designed for advanced mountain bike riders. Beginners can also ride slowly along the trail. Enjoy the jumps, banked turns and rock features in a single-track about 5 miles (8 kilometers) long. Note that the site also has bike parking facilities, drinking water, a changing station and restrooms, all helping to make your ride safe and comfortable.
The campground at Markin Glen County Park has modern sites for tents, trailers and recreational vehicles. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring. Find clean restrooms, sewer hookups, water, electricity and firewood for purchase. The campground is located near a beautiful lake where fishing is permitted. Book your spot in advance by calling the park and paying by credit or debit card at the time of the reservation.
