Waterfall Lodge - Huge Mountain Lodge w/ Hot Tub

Summary:
The Waterfall Lodge is a gorgeous 3-story custom-built wooden lodge tucked away in the Blue Ridge Mountains of NC. With 5 bedrooms & 12 beds, our home is perfect for large families/groups!

Just 30 minutes from Asheville, guests are close to everything Western North Carolina has to offer!
You will never want to leave once you arrive at our mountain getaway, with your own private pond, hot tub, waterfall, babbling mountain brook, hiking trails, and more!

The Space:
As you pull into our driveway, you'll walk onto one of our two massive wraparound decks, bringing you to the main entrance which has a custom door code lock.

You will enter into our large, open concept living room with plenty of seating for big groups and even multiple families vacationing together. Here you can watch movies on our flatscreen TV, play board games on the coffee table next to the huge windows letting in tons of natural light, or just relax for awhile, enjoying the company of others. There is a large full bathroom attached to the living room, as well as another room dedicated for washer and drier, making laundry an easy task.

Past the main living room you can walk into our fully stocked kitchen with plenty of counter top space and all of the appliances you'd need to entertain larger groups. There is a center island as well for presenting food, extra seating space, or accompanying your partner as they prepare your next amazing meal :)

After the kitchen you'll see the main dining room for the home which has one of the largest (and most impressive) custom built tables you've ever seen! The wood used to build this table was taken from old farms located all over the state of North Carolina.

Just past the dining room we have our second wraparound deck with plenty of seating, benches, and additional dining areas. This deck is our particular favorite since it has a gorgeous view overlooking your own private pond. It's also situated perfectly to enjoy the waterfall cascading just feet from the house. The sound it gives off is relaxing and an amazing compliment for morning coffee sessions. During the summer months the trees provide some very comfortable shade, and as the leaves change color in the fall the views only get better! (can you tell we love this deck?)

Heading back into the house from the deck, you can walk upstairs where you'll find another large full bathroom along with three large bedrooms. The first is a HUGE master suite, featuring a California king sized bed sitting atop one of our several custom built bed frames made from trees cut down on memory mountain!

Attached to this master bedroom is a private bathroom with a large stone shower featuring two separate shower heads.

This master suite has an additional bunk bed off to the side providing two additional sleeping spaces.

We still have TWO more private bedrooms on this third floor, the second is a cute bunk bed room, with two separate bunk beds (both made from local memory mountain trees), with four twin beds.

The third bedroom upstairs has amazing views of the many ponds scattered across the mountain. It has tall vaulted ceilings and a large queen bed atop another custom wood bed frame.

BUT WAIT! There is another secret room...

If you walk into the closet area between the second and third bedroom upstairs, you'll find a wooden ladder leading up to one of our favorite aspects of this cabin, the TREEHOUSE ROOM!

This is an adorable little space with a twin bed, TV, and windows over looking the ponds. This is the perfect little getaway hidden in the house and a super cool place to sleep!

Heading down two floors you'll find yourself on the first floor/ground level. Here we have a second large living room with stone floors made from large flat rocks pulled from local rivers.

Attached to the living room are two additional bedrooms, each with large closets, dressers, and gorgeous stone floors.

One of the bedrooms has two beds (doubles) and the second bedroom has one large queen.

On the other side of the ground floor we have a game room that currently serves as the perfect arena for ping pong tournaments!

Once you've tired yourself out from playing ping pong, you can head directly out to one of the outdoor patios where you will see our large hot tub overlooking the waterfall. This is a great spot to unwind after a long day of hiking and enjoying the natural beauty North Carolina has to offer.

The Waterfall Cabin features amazing craftsmanship that you can see everywhere you look! The main living area has an immaculate open concept design, we have tall vaulted ceilings with huge windows letting in tons of natural light (as well as views of the gorgeous mountain landscape outside).

On this same floor you'll find our fully stocked kitchen featuring all of the countertop space and appliances you need to entertain large groups of people.

Next to the kitchen we have our dining room, featuring a MASSIVE custom built table made from local reclaimed wood with seating for 8 people.

There is second living room on the ground floor level featuring custom stone floors, plenty of couches/chairs, quick access to the hot tub patio, as well as our game room sporting a full size ping pong table!

Sip your morning coffee or tea on our oversized, wraparound decks, overlooking the mountain stream and waterfall as it flows from one pond to another (yes, there are 5). These decks are also great for eating dinner outdoors, or late-night card games.

Relax outside in the hot tub situated right next to the waterfall, where you can enjoy the spa treatment while listening to the sounds of nature.

We have a fire pit by the water's edge. You can roast marshmallows under the stars every night!

The main dining room features a HUGE custom-built wood table with tons of seating for large groups/gatherings. There are also large tables on the decks and picnic tables in the yard for outdoor meals.

We've done everything we can to make our home a dream come true vacation rental for large families and groups! Please reach out with any questions!

Our Lodge is just 30 minutes outside of Asheville, NC where guests can visit tons of breweries, restaurants, the historic Biltmore Estates, and plenty more!

We're also close enough to make a day trip to the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, Pisgah National Forest, or the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway. Enjoy hiking, rafting, and everything else western North Carolina has to offer!

This lodge is huge! Everything about this place says wood lodge. Too many positive things to say! So in short, the things we noticed, The home is not that far off the main road, so pay attention not to drive by because it’s very hard to turn around, has two separate driveways, Home is clean. Outdoors was very quiet, you can walk up to the other pond and go fishing. Waterfall lodge is definitely on the list to go back to visit.

Amazing stay for large groups!
We had an absolute blast staying at Rachel & Sam's beautiful home in the mountains. It was the perfect location for my group of 15 friends. The house has plenty of room and beds which made sleeping arrangements easy to coordinate. The private pond and fire pit were perfect for hanging out and playing games outside. It is in a great, quiet location up in the mountains which was perfect for our group to reconnect and enjoy each other's company. We had so much fun and I would absolutely recommend Rachel & Sam's house for anyone looking for a fun, group getaway in the mountains near Asheville!

The property was wonderful. It was quiet except for the waterfall and secluded. We had a very nice time and there are lots of things to visit all close by. The kitchen table was great as it accommodated our growing family. There was plenty fo fun for reh kids and relaxation for the adults. I highly recommend this spacious cabin on 195 Black Bear Road.

Nice vacation home.
The waterfall cabin has so much going for it. Well situated near many great outdoor activities, private, spacious, nice linens, easy check in and good communication. The kitchen needs to be better equipped for large groups-- serve ware (platters, bowls, a salad bowl), and flatware. The waterfall was not as pictured--more of a drainage conduit. Our family enjoyed our stay and had a wonderful vacation. The Hickey Falls trail is a must!!

Spacious, peaceful home in a lovely setting with plenty of room for our multi-generational group of 10. Rachel and Sam were lovely to work with, and were incredibly responsive to questions and a minor maintenance issue. Some of the furnishings are a little more worn in person, but overall we found the space to be comfortable, very clean, and a good fit for our group!

Wonderful stay despite check-in challenge!
This is an awesome property for a large group looking to get away. Very spacious and comfortable. It's a bit of a hike to Asheville but totally doable if your getaway plans don't entirely revolve around city activities. We did have a bit of a challenge checking in as we were given the wrong address and key code, but this was resolved relatively quickly. I would stay here again!

And most importantly, Steve is a wonderful and responsive owner with integrity and takes pride in his homes. Tranquility & Peace surround you
I won’t be able to accurately convey in words just how wonderful this property and cabin was, or just how amazing Steve and Joy are but I am going to try! We stayed in this cabin for a team retreat we were attending in Asheville. We were a group of 12, a few couples, mostly business partners, team mates and friends. The cabin was perfect for our group, comfortably held all of us in the most amazing cabin. Steve and his sons built these cabins and you can tell love and attention went into it all. The property and the atmosphere created by them are tranquil and peaceful. We enjoyed just wandering around the property, visiting the chapel and grounds and just being present in the gorgeous country setting. You cannot miss visiting the magic present around that chapel. There is a special story there, but I’ll let you experience it in person. Truly powerful. Steve and Joy gave us all the privacy to enjoy our group and the property but checked in and made us feel welcome, appreciated and like we were instant friends. We knew if we needed anything at all to just ask. They are the best hosts and run a stellar operation! There are several cabins available on the property and they all look amazing. There are streams and waterfalls and small ponds and it’s breathtaking. There was literally zero complaints from our group about the place! Steve stayed in touch with me all the way up to our arrival, even allowing an early check in option. And let me tell you, the place was SPOTLESS on arrival. They definitely take cleanliness very seriously which I know is appreciated by everyone! The hot tub was amazing and you can listen to the sounds of the waterfall while sitting in it. Can’t miss a stop at the Bridge to Nowhere. They do weddings and events too and we walked around the grounds. I can only imagine how amazing those events are so if you are looking for a venue - check with them!! I think I covered it all. Oh the pond view is awesome especially sitting around the fire. If you are into fishing, the pond has fish in it and it’s a catch and release system.

The Host with the Most!!!
Others reviewer commented on what a wonderful host Steve and Joyce are but they went above and beyond this time. You may have heard about a "little gas shortage" this past week. Well, Ashville, NC was at the heart of the gas shortage and Monday afternoon found my 2 daughters arriving at the cabin "on vapors" in each of their cars since they were unable to find gas while driving to the cabin and all local gas stations out of gas. Steve arrived Tuesday morning with 5 gallons of gas so each car was off of vapors. By Wednesday morning, when it was apparent this gas shortage was no longer a local only issue, Steve brought us 4 empty containers and then located a gas station that had gas and called. I was able to take one of the near empty cars and get it filled and get enough gas to take back for the other car. From there we were able to enjoy the remainder of our vacation knowing all could get back home. The place is just as pictured and you will not be disappointed!

My husband and I stayed here for spring break with our 5 boys (2-12) and our friend and his 4 boys (4-11). The property was perfect for us! The boys really enjoyed the pond for fishing and the hot tub 😜. There was more than enough room for all of us to spread out and sleep/eat/shower/relax! The owners were amazing, very friendly and helpful! Great communication from booking until our stay was done! If we ever happen to head to Asheville again, we would definitely look to stay here again and again!
