We do require $35/night per pet which we will request separately. Please note--we also require additional documentation to be reviewed and signed for all reservations.

We DO NOT allow Early Check-ins and or Late Checkouts during the following time frame:
May-December. It' is what we consider our "Busy Season" and therefor cannot accommodate such request during that time of year.

From January- April...if we can accommodate an early arrival or late check out, there is a $50 fee, for each. The Early Arrival time is 2pm and the Late Check out time is 12pm.
We, however, CANNOT confirm any early arrivals or late check outs until 2 days prior to your arrival. So please do not contact us until then.

There is a small, low lying bridge you have to cross to get to the neighborhood. Snow should not impact crossing, as people live there full time, but the rare heavy flood would present a problem. We try to keep an eye on water levels and give notice if it might become impassable coming or going, but occasionally a flash flood surprises us. The bridge does have a 10 ton weight limit as well.

Also, please note, due to the home being an old log home, the stairs inside going to the basement and outside steps off of the back deck, are fairly steep.

During the summer months, please be aware that lawn maintenance may stop by during your stay to service the yard. We also have service providers who stop by to pick up trash and service hot tub.

If you’re planning to have an event during your stay, it’s important to get approval from us before booking. We’ll need to know the number of guests and cars, and there will be an additional event fee.

Perfect location and furnished home to celebrate my moms 70th!
We had a perfect weekend getaway on the river to celebrate and be together with enough space to spread out when needed. The house was fully stocked, the yard had plenty of space and a great fire pit. Not to mention how amazing the river fishing, tubing and relaxing was just a short walk away!

Not maintained
The house was not maintained. Water smelled awful, we were afraid to drink or use the water. It was also very buggy(stink bugs and lady bugs) inside the house in winter! Dead bugs on floors and furniture. The ash bucket for the fireplace was full to the brim.Laundry room had lots of stuff on appliances and the floor. All the closet had stuff in them. Vacuum and a broom were stored in the hallway. Kitchen pots, pans dishes and silverware looked dirty. There was trash in the yard, a large bucket full of cigarette butts on the back porch. Overall it felt as the house has not been maintained it a long time.

Lazy Bear Lodge Family Vacay
This is the 2nd year we have stayed here as a family. My husband and I take our 5 children with their spouses and children. We LOVE being all together. The outdoor space is very large and flat and great! You have access to the river for tubing, kayaking, fishing, and catching crayfish. We love the large firepit area and firewood is provided. We use the grill and large deck for meals. It's nice having the under the deck area in case it rains...you have an outdoor hangout space. The internet is very good but cell phone service not. We appreciate the Smart TV's and streaming services. The house has everything you need for cooking and linens. We really enjoy it:)

Extended family get-away
This is my SECOND time coming to this property. The first time I came was 2 years prior for a work retreat. This time it was for a family get together of ~8-10 family members and my two huskies. I obviously really loved this place being my second time there. The location is definitely a mountain get-away. The lodging is nicely kept with all the appropriate supplies you would need. The only thing I would pass on regarding this location was that the river that is actually during this time was VERY low. We did take the kayaks and tubes out (There are 2 kayaks and several tubes available). It was impossible to get through the river route on tube or kayak without having to get out and push/carry them over rock. Also there was a ton of algae. It made it more difficult to do this activity of course, but was still fun to do overall.

this property was gorgeous! We went in the hot tub, went tubing in the river, fished, ate smore at the bonfire, had a provate chef cook for us, stayed up playing games on the long family table and enjoyed relaxing and watching shows through the hulu service they provided. We felt like kings and queens this past weekend! We will definitely be back!

Family gathering
Our family gathered here for a long weekend. There was plenty of room for everyone (we had 10 adults and an infant). The pictures do not do the property justice. The yard was large and nicely kept. A short walk to the river gave us a nice relaxing spot, the baby loved the sound of the water. The weather was beautiful and we made several lazy tube rides down the river. The location and style of home definitely gave a cabin in the mountains feel. We love to spend time outdoors, but prefer real walls and plumbing, this was the place for us. Overall, we could not have asked for a better weekend.

This house is definitely off the beaten path. You definitely want to have what you need before you get to the home since the drive to the main road takes 25 minutes. The views are beautiful getting to the house. When we had questions the property manager was quick to respond.

Mostly Good
I found the property to be exactly as the host listed it. Quiet, secluded, and had a park like setting. The cabin has a lot of room, and we found it very comfortable. The main level had a very big living room where our family gathered each night that was very nice. We had a party of 5 people traveling, so we used 3 of the bedrooms. Some of the bedrooms are a little small, so had we been traveling with more people, some may not have been happy with their bedroom size. There were no dressers or closets we could use for our clothing on the main floor, so we had to keep clothes in our suitcases the entire trip. The kitchen was well stocked with all we needed to cook dinner every night. The stairs to the lower level are extremely steep, it might be a problem for older people or small children. The home wasn't as clean as I would have expected it to be though and we encountered a lot of insects in the house during our stay. The biggest issue by far was the quality of the drinking water. It had a distinct sulfur smell and a slight brown tinge to it. I unfortunately still drank it against my wife's advice and ended up getting sick for 2 days while we were there from it. I would highly recommend bottled water if you are going to stay here.

Great place for family vacation
We very much enjoyed our stay in the Mauertown home. The property is beautiful, the kitchen was fully stocked although many utensils were previously used very hard. The River access and tubes were a very nice addition. Many days we dropped the tubes off at the bridge and floated back to the property. If you don’t mind being off the beaten path this place is for you.

Perfect Family River Retreat!
I stayed here with my husband and family...there was 15 of us including the toddlers. We absolutely LOVED our stay! First impressions...the low lying bridge was eye opening as it has no guard rails and very narrow. Their is no cell phone service at the cabin for making calls, but they do have wifi and you can get text messages. The house was clean and very spacious for all of us. Not much room to store dry food so we kept it in our bedroom. The water in the showers and sinks has a very strong sulfur smell....the more you run the water, the better but the smell is like rotten eggs. We used air freshner alot, lol. I think this is just from not being used every day. We are used to it since we camp. We used the grill...it's not the cleanest, but worked fine and had plenty of propane. We LOVED the deck and patio below and huge grassy yard! It is as beautiful in person as pictured. The fire pit is very large and had extra adirondack chairs, which was nice. The hot tub is clean and warm, however, the jets are very soft...I'm thinking the blower may need repaired. We still loved it and it's under roof in case it rains. They have a lantern hanging next to it to see when you get out. They have a garden hose hook up for muddy feet or shoes when returning from the river. The shed has plenty of tubes and 2 nice kayaks. We had the best time playing and floating in the river. There is a sort of steep hill down to the river, but there are steps made out of rocks and they have a board to walk on. I would say, you need to be sort of agile on your feet to make it down to the river. You can set chairs on the bank at the top and watch the river. Our kids had SO much fun in the river catching crayfish, and you can float from the house and just walk back up the river. It's a slow, shallow float. In the house, all of the appliances worked fine and the kitchen is fully stocked with all kinds of pots and pans and crockpots. So handy! They have spices and plastic wrap and foil and dish detergent. They washer and dryer is new and very nice. They have extra pillows and blankets. Plenty of parking space. When we arrived, 2 lightbulbs were blown in the kitchen...but if you look around, you can find extras of things. We had plenty of meals around the very large dining table inside. There are bugs outside, but we just used bug spray. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would! We can't wait to go again!!! We had so much fun!!!!

Nice house, good location, some minor oversell of features
The house is large enough for our 13 person party though the 17 person capacity advertised seems a stretch, the beds and linens/blankets are nice, the kitchen is well equipped (large fridge and stove, life saving dish washer) though the cookware is less than modern and complete. Overall the house was as expected and great for our group. Caveats are that the hot tub is small and not very clean, one of the kayaks leaked and couldn't be used, you'll need to have vehicles capable of moving the kayaks to a different part of the river to use them, and as noted some of cookware is old, has broken handles, and is not a complete set just some odds and ends of pots and pans (no frying pan), etc., however still usable if you are creative.
